I feel safe in any area I go to. Even during the night, everything’s really calm. Also, there is public transport all through the night and usually, if you ask your driver, they will let you get out at the closest option for your way home.

I feel very safe in the city. During the day you can go to all areas of interest and it’s perfectly fine. It’s a city that’s very calm and quiet at night, especially along the fjord. But people generally mind their business. Just avoid the area called Garden, especially at night

I‘ve been living in Kiel for my whole life and always felt really safe. Would recommend crowded areas by nighttime this always helps to feel protected. There are also police officers by the central station so whenever you feel uncomfortable waiting for public transportation you can talk to them.

It really depends on the area you’re in. Areas you shouldn’t travel to alone as a woman especially in the dark are: Mettenhof and Gaarden. Other than that I’d say it’s the same to most German cities.
