I recommend this place to cool down while you’re backpacking. Thats what my friend and i did. Its not that busy, but also not boring. I dont know how it is in the winter, but the summer is BEAUTIFUL!!

My first time in Heidelberg! I had the time of my life! Such a beautiful place. It started cloudy but then it was so sunny! I didn't try the food or buy anything, I was so enhanced by the city, that I just walked through it! There is a lot of nature and it felt super peaceful. I recommend paying a visit, it's so worth it.
Posted: June 9, 2024I would define recommend Heidelberg, it has good authentic food and historical old buildings. There is a castle with a wonderful view. It is one of the places you should not miss when visiting Germany.

I think Heidelberg is a pretty safe city, as a woman I feel quite secure there. Many young people, who help each other, mostly students who will take you in their group if you are alone and feel unsafe.
Posted: September 3, 2025I came here on my own and I live here on my own. Most of the time I feel very safe. I love this city and the few times I felt unsafe was when I was walking past homeless people. But I think the homeless rate is lower than in other cities and I think it is a very safe city.

I’ve been living in Heidelberg for just about a year now, and from the very beginning, I had the feeling that this city is incredibly safe. There’s hardly any crime, and even when using public transport, you always feel comfortable and secure. People here are generally very open and friendly – if you ever need help, you can be sure someone will offer it without hesitation.

I’m a travel/food/coffee/movie/music/hike/good walk enthusiast! I’m always on the hunt to try new things and visit new places. I love to go into deep discussion about life and psychology and learning about new cultures (with an open eye, heart and mind). I am very proud of every single woman and how far we’re all coming 🫶
