How safe is Strasbourg?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Strasbourg is generally considered safe for solo female travelers even at night. Most of the areas frequented by tourists are well-lit and populated, with police patrolling regularly. However, as with any city, it's always advised to stay aware of your surroundings, stick to well-traveled areas, and avoid walking alone at night in less populated or poorly lit areas. Use of common sense and standard precautious will further ensure your safety.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Strasbourg, is known for its reliability and safety. It is easy to navigate with a comprehensive network of trams, buses, and bike rental services that operate extensive hours. However, as in any city, vigilance and caution should be practiced, particularly during evenings and night times. Most locals and tourists find it safe and efficient. Remember to always keep an eye on your belongings.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Strasbourg is a relatively safe city, especially in the heart of the city center where it is bustling with people. Instances of street harassment are, fortunately, not very common. However, like any other city, the situation may vary by neighborhood, time of day, and other factors. Always err on the side of caution and, as a rule, be aware of your surroundings anywhere you travel.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Strasbourg is generally a safe city for solo female travelers, with low instances of petty crimes such as pickpocketing or bag snatching. Nevertheless, it's always important to stay vigilant, especially in crowded areas like tourist spots and public transportation. Thieves may operate in those areas due to the high volume of people. Always keep your belongings close and secured to minimize risks.

Strasbourg was a pleasant city to visit. I had to go to the currency exchange and was traveling with a significant amount of cash. I wasn't interrupted or bothered by anybody, and although I used my regular precautionary measures I felt safe. Food was great, it was off season but still quite a busy downtown/historical places. Good mix of crowds, delicious brunch at Madame Julia's.

Pretty safe city. I sometimes feel worried around the Gare area at night, because of shady people hanging out in the streers, but no one has ever assaulted me. Especially in winter : streets are quite empty at night because of the cold

Strasbourg is a very pleasant and safe city. Easy to get around by foot or bicycle and public transport. Lots of feminist events organised by the city. Been there over a year now and i feel very safe even at night.

Solo travel

I visited Strasbourg around the Christmas time- which is, if you are familiar, the fullest and most beautiful version of the city. It was really crowded, but the city itself is so beautiful and there were too much to see so it didn’t cause any problems. The Christmas market was awesome, everything tasted so good! Overall the spirit and vibe of Strasbourg created a magical environment. I was there with 3 of my friends but I believe a solo trip should also be as good. Have fun!☺️

Solo travel

Strasbourg is a real dream. I loved walking around this city - it's just breathtaking, wherever you go. I really liked this little patisserie called L'Atelier.

Hi to the team ! I’m Alex and with my friend Val we’re travelling around by bike from France. We are more than excited to meet new friends on the way, to meet up for a beer or a ride around ur area. We’re also on the look for some place to stay on the way, it doesn’t necessary need to be a bed, a place to put our tent or some room on the floor is more than enough. Excited to meet up all ! Cheers
