I felt very safe even walking at night. I was based in Cannes, but did day trips to Nice and Monaco. I would just be careful on the trains as they can get full very quickly and this is a good target for pickpockets. Other than that, I always felt very nice and there’s a strong tourist infrastructure
Posted: August 29, 2024Nice is a pleasant, colorful city, typical of Mediterranean towns. There are many specialties to try, such as socca and pissaladière. My favorite places in Nice that you should also try out: admire the view of the castle hill, going for a walk at the Promenade des Anglais, go to the Cours Saleya flower market and stroll around the old town. I particularly liked the MAMAC, if you like contemporary art. 🌴🌊 As far as security is concerned, I felt safe at all times, but there are some areas where this is apparently not the case. I haven't had any experience of this, but just in case, ask around.

We slept at my uncles place so the costs werent that high but still France is expensive. I loved the beach and will go back. Much better quality of life than Germany. People are also so outgoing at night

Such an awesome city! Funny and conversational people, lovely beaches, awesome art! I didn’t eat out much, but groceries were fairly reasonabley priced! Cheap alcohol compared to North America! The art gallery is a must see
Posted: May 18, 2024I visited Nice, France in September 2016. I stayed there on a short stopover the previous year and like it so much decided to properly visit again. I stayed in a hostel and felt very safe there. There is a beautiful beach there though it is pebbly there a some sandy beaches nearby in Monaco just a short train ride away. The water was lovely at the end of summercas it had warmed up a lot. There are loads of little cafes and shops to visit. Cool restaurants and night life too. I'd recommend the farmers market on the weekend to check out the great array of foods. The local dish Socca is delicious and gluten free for any fellow coeliac nomads.
Posted: January 7, 2024Experienced: August, 2016Nice is very social and such a fun and vibrant city! I stayed at a hostel that hosted a bar crawl where I met loads of fun and nice people. It was well arranged and the hosts were also very nice. In terms of safety, I must say that I did not feel SUPER safe, but that is mostly due to my own fear. Two very sweet guys from the pub crawl followed me home to my hostel and made sure that I got in safely. They then left and walked home to themselves. That made me feel very safe! Also there are police everywhere which also makes you feel looked out for. In terms of budget, the city is very expensive, so it is not very budget friendly. But I still think it is worth a visit.

Every year I travel to Nice because, in my opinion, it's one of the most beautiful places. Near the center, there is a waterfall and next to it, a view of the entire French Riviera. France, as you know, requires financial preparation, but the food is DELICIOUS! During the day, there is a market where you can buy a lot of fruits, pastries; I recommend, for example, buying used jewelry; you can find pearls. And in the evening, in the same place, delightful restaurants set up their gardens.
Posted: December 10, 2023My first solo trip was to Nice. I took day trips by train to visit Cannes and Monaco. I did not go out alone at night. I stayed in a dormitory for girls only and immediately became friends with others and went out to bars, which seemed safe in a group. Lots of fun, easy transport, many places to see and amazing summer weather.
Posted: July 31, 2023I went to Nice for my first solo trip in my life. I stayed at the Ozz hostel and felt very safe and comfortable in the city. Public transportation is great, and the city itself is also very pedestrian-friendly. I absolutely loved it. The only time I felt a bit unsafe was when I was walking through empty streets at night.
Posted: June 1, 2023Nice was beautiful but also quite touristy. It was sunny and warm. I noticed some street harassment of femme women and there were not many obviously LGBTQIA inclusive spaces. That said, the people were friendly towards me and my partner (a woman).

I’ve been living in Nice since September 2023, and i find it a very safe city. I don’t worry about walking home at night, i’ve never had bad experiences here, but still if you’re solo traveling you should always stay vigilant.

Pretty safe, avoid shady places.. like any touristic city. Overall if you walk by the sea no worries apart from that maybe here and there maybe to spot weird people but no Nice is very safe and nice place to live or just visit.
