I was there for an Erasmus. If you are under 26 please take advantage of their free museums, they have sooo many. Nothing occured to me, still due to how populated Paris is, I would recommend being cautious, still no exaggeration is needed.

I’ve been to Paris six times, and it has always felt like such a special city to me. It’s a place I truly connect with in a different way every time I visit. I’m going again this November and I’m really excited for it
Posted: June 10, 2026Paris, the city of romance and love! It was a very good experience since the city is built for tourists, there are wide choices of foods and beverages and activities to do, and you don’t need a lot of money to visit it honestly.
Posted: May 10, 2026Experienced: June, 2025Went in 2016/2017 when everything wasn't insanely expensive yet. Saw Paris and surrounding areas. What you would expect of Paris. Pretty places and no English speakers. Bad parts of town you should avoid if you can, looks sad and lots of homelessness. Busy in Paris and the metros and such but worth it to see the architecture there once. Maybe now anymore cus of homelessness and prices now but it used to be pretty to walk around in Paris.

I've heard a lot before moving in that Paris isn't a safe city, that I should be careful, and that some places are to avoid, but after two years I can say it is actually a pretty safe city. You're not immune to getting your belongings pickpocketed, but it really is a nice place, and most of what I've heard is based on racism more than anything else. Have basic carefulness and it should be ok.
Posted: June 3, 2026Paris like any big city has its “dangers”, but it is overall not a “crime hub”. There are obvious no go zones, at night, but also at day, but the likelihood of something happening isnt as high as people make it out to be, just know where to go. If you don’t go looking for trouble, chances are you won’t find it. That being said check your personal belongings every once in a while, not looking for trouble and staying in the “safer” areas doesn’t mean be careless
Posted: June 1, 2026Paris is pretty safe for a big capital, especially on daytime. There are a lot of pickpockets (for sure) in subways, but nothing to be hella scared. Ps: Avoid Gare du Nord area, barbesse, la chapelle at night.

Paris is relatively safe for a solo woman as there are always a lot of people in the streets. But avoid being alone in non-touristic places at night. I think the subway is rather safe at night too, you just need to avoid some specific areas. Unfortunately, as a tourist, you will probably be targeted by pickpockets, so be careful with your personal belongings. Nothing has ever happened to me or to my friends, even though I already lived in an arrondissement considered “not very safe” by some...
