Safety at night:Safe

Toulouse is a relatively safe city for solo female travelers. There are numerous well-lit areas and plenty of people, particularly in the city center. As with any city, however, it's important to remain vigilant, especially after dark. Stick to tourist-heavy regions and try using trusted taxi services rather than walking alone at night, especially in unknown areas.

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Toulouse, is generally safe for solo female travelers. The city has an extensive network of bus, tram, and metro lines which are well-maintained and fairly reliable. Violent crimes are not common on public transport, but like with any major city, remain alert for pickpockets and petty crime, especially during rush hour. It's also recommended to avoid less crowded cars late at night. Overall, Toulouse public transportation is safe with a fair level of vigilance.

Street harassment:Low

Toulouse, often known as 'La Ville Rose' or 'The Pink City' is relatively safe for female solo travelers. Generally, the residents are respectful, and street harassment is not a prevalent issue. However, as with many urban cities, it is advisable to always be aware of your surroundings, particularly at night or in less trodden neighborhoods. Mainly, you might encounter some occasional stares or comments, but they are more likely to come from curiosity rather than a threat. Public transport and main touristic areas are generally safe. Overall, the city offers a friendly atmosphere to solo female travelers.

Petty crimes:Low

Toulouse has a generally low level of petty crime. However, as with any major city, it is advised to keep an eye on personal belongings and to be cautious of pickpocketing in busy areas like markets or train stations. Nighttime safety is generally good, but it's always wise to stay in well-lit areas and avoid isolated parts of the city. Major tourist attractions are usually well-patrolled and safe.

Tap water:Very safe

Tap water in Toulouse is completely safe to drink. It maintains high quality control standards, undergoes regular testing, and is well regulated by French health authorities. Bottled water is also readily available but for general drinking purposes, tap water is an excellent choice.

Is Toulouse safe to travel?

Solo travel experience

It is a beautiful city with plenty to see and do. Felt safe during the day and at night. Walks along the canal du midi and the narrow streets in the town. The metro is easy to get around in. Stayed in hotel in Jean Juras .

I'd say Toulouse is a safe city. I like to go walking at night, and I've never had any problems. During the day, it's always busy, and you can stroll the streets on foot or take public transport - it's quiet! It's a very queer city and pretty safe in that respect too.

Well I’m new to the city and I come from Bogotá, Colombia so in comparison it seems like a very safe city. I haven’t had any issues in public transportation or walking at night, there is a lot of information about sexual abuse and safe line you can contact so it seems that in general there’s a lot of attention to this issue. Still, as a woman, I would say to always keep a eye and try to protect yourself as much as possible.

I visited Toulouse this summer and absolutely loved it. Amazing food, beautiful location and cheap day trips to other cities, including Bordeaux or Carcassonne.
