You can go to Lille from Paris by taking a bus or a train. I took a 3h bus and was really quick. One you get there you can walk around and see all main attractions that are closed to the city center. Food is not expensive. You should try les moulles with french fries and the go to have some dessert in a bakery store but not the gouffre cause it's really thing and small that's not worth the price. To finish you can go to the Citadelle a nice park to have some rest and a drink. I would recommend to do this just in a day cause there's no more else to do after that

I want to talk about my experience in Lille because it was the first time I was hosted by a girl I had met online. I was with my roommate and our host let us stay for two nights in her place, she was such a lovely person to talk to and we could trust each other completely! I am very grateful for this experience and I hope I can do it again in the future. Lille is a beautiful city with cool architecture and some museums that we really enjoyed. The people are really nice too. I recommend it!

It is safe but not always especially at night with the homeless people everywhere and some of them are drunk and violent or on drugs... Even in the subway always watch your belongings there's a lot of thieves. During the day it's safe .
Posted: October 19, 2025Never had any bad expérience in 23 years of living here, but I also respect the basics rules to keep safe. I guess it is like any big cities, you have to be careful and stay out of the "bad" neighborhoods.
Posted: September 16, 2025Lille is really safe with police officer everywhere. Of course like in every big city there is homeless people, drunk people... but where I live, it is the most safe place in Lille. I recommand Lille 100%.

It's a big city so it's a bit complicated, it depends on the neighborhoods, like pretty much everywhere, but generally it's quite safe. It's better to avoid the train station area or the markets.

I've been living in Lille for 2 years and I find it to be a fairly safe city. It obviously depends on the neighborhood, but overall, you can trust the people who are very friendly. The least safe neighborhoods are in the south of Lille. There are a lot of homeless people, which can tarnish the city's reputation, but otherwise everything is fine.
