Moderately safe but varies depending on how rough area is and there is a big discrepancy between boroughs- check the area first. General safety advice would be good to not walk after dark, let someone know where you are going and when, and stay in well lit roads. In general it is safe during the day
Posted: August 11, 2025If you stick to the city centre, you’ll be pretty safe. But I’d still recommend against going out in the dark, as there are drunk people or people on drugs on the roads :( It’s fairly ok during the day but be sure your belongings are safe
Posted: August 10, 2025Dundee is an interesting place. I would say it’s safe for any white straight passing woman, even when you travel alone after dark. Mostly it’s teens that are more terrifying and might randomly shout at you. For Non-white women or Queer community , things can be different. People are a-bit at the polar opposite, either very welcoming or very non-welcoming. But 95% of them are at the left wing side I would say.

Depends heavily on the area and time of day. As a tourist do not stay out late alone, i wouldn't recommend going home alone at night. A lot of phone thieves in central/where tourists go. A lot of homeless people will ask you for stuff, more at night. Sometimes you just have to buy them water, but it can be scary as well. Much much safer in groups

London has a bad rep because of gang violence. If you are not part of a gang then nothing crazy happens in general. I walk and cycle alone, do night shifts. But obviously as any touristy place in central beware of pickpocket or phone grabs. Like Camden or Leicester Square. But don't stress about it. It is highly unlikely from millions anything is going to happen, but not impossible of course. The city is full of CCTVs and bobbies. Not to mention people are generally helpful.
