Be careful and watch your stuff in touristic areas. People being loud and staring at you on public transport is unfortunately quite normal. It’s not a crime to change your seat inside of the bus or on the metro, if somebody sitting near you is making you uncomfortable. But all in all most of the people in London mind their own business.
Posted: April 1, 2025Birmingham depends on the area of course - I'd stay out of the city centre and erdington side during the dark, the north is usually fine (Sutton and so), but it can get quite scary so i would just make sure you're aware at all times

It's a pretty safe place, especially during the day. Except you need to be really careful with your phone as there's been a lot of phone thefts in London. At night it's also pretty safe but it's important to stay aware, especially in more dangerous areas and in a darker streets
Posted: March 28, 2025For being a big city I think it is quite safe. There's the odd mobile snatchers and depends on the neighborhood you can have some streets or areas you might want to avoid, In the overall it's surprisingly safe.

London is a safe place for women who are prepared for the worst circumstances. To live in London as a woman you have to be prepared for the worst circumstances. It is the only way you can get home safe, if you are not taking a car or a cab using public transport walking alone at night for a distance longer than 10 minutes. Either bring a friend or stay on the phone to her friend and carry something to protect yourself.

Carlisle is generally very safe - like any city it can have its issues, but overall I feel safe even as a woman alone at night ! Botchergate is the main area for going out, and because of that it can get a bit rowdy on a Saturday night but still in general I always feel safe even!

It’s very quiet and well-lit. It’s nice overall but you should always be prepared for risk anywhere in the world- no matter how close or far away it is to home. The public transport here can be unreliable but better than most places in the world.
Posted: March 26, 2025A small town vibe where you'll be able to move around without feeling threatened. Others have mentioned groups of young people hanging around on bikes and some people begging; however, I wouldn't consider this unsafe.

I've never had any issues and I've lived here all my life. I often get the late public transport and have had nights out and I've never had issues. it's like most other smaller city's there is a few cases of crime here and there but overall it's okay
Posted: March 23, 2025Very safe city. Only a few certain areas to avoid late at night that don’t feel so safe. Only issues is nightlife and spiking is quite prominent. I know many friends that have experienced this. But at day time the city feels very safe

I had the opportunity to take a few trips, and I never had that feeling of security like I did in London! I also felt a sense of calm despite the crowded streets; it was pleasant and gentle to stroll through the city. Before my trip, I had prepared some free activities to do: visiting museums, walking in parks, visiting monuments, watching the Changing of the Guard.
