Pretty safe, never had any issues all my life living here. However you do need to be careful in certain impoverished areas as there obviously tends to be more crime. I live in the southside and once again never had any issues besides the odd break in to a house or robbery. Obviously don’t make eye contact with the crazies or crackheads. Never had an issue in city centre and I’ve been out until 2/3am. As a woman, never been sexually harassed or threatened in that sense. However I know other people may have had different experiences.

The city is very safe in daylight. During weekdays very late at night the mood changes in city centre, so I wouldn’t walk alone there as you may find issues happening. Weekends are ok, as lot of people go out partying and the streets are very busy.

Glasgow varies in terms of safety. There’s a rumour about how you shouldn’t walk around at night because of the gangsters but that’s not true. There are plenty of people walking about at night. The most safest locations would be the west end of Glasgow. The city centre can be chaotic and some part of the south and east end can be a little concerning to walk on your own but it is generally fine.

Glasgow is relatively safe. People usually are friendly and mind their own business but there are still a lot of rough people in Glasgow like any place. There's good and bad everywhere. Police are always around the city centre and staff on public transport. There's security in stores and other places so if anything happens they will be your first point of contact. Walking around alone at night is safe, but depending on which area.

Like most places in Scotland, generally Glasgow is quite safe, people may be a bit rowdy in the evenings on the weekends after a few drinks but are not generally violent. I feel safe taking public transport and walking, even alone at night.
Posted: July 5, 2024In general I feel safe but there are a lot of drunk and drug addicts and homeless people around, I wouldn't advise to go in parks after dark or use small side streets. Keep belongings also with you just in case.
Posted: June 23, 2024Glasgow is a pretty safe city but the nightlife can be erratic and crazy. Never a dull moment and occasionally you can get forced to interact work drunk or drugged up people and kea pretty disturbing.
Posted: June 1, 2024Glasgow is where people are loud and cheerful, which can be mistaken for dangerous. In my opinion and experience it is as safe as any other city in Europe (for example). I have never had a serious safety issue in Glasgow.

Some parts of the city feel safe to walk alone at night and during the day. I'd avoid areas around central station if possible, especially at night. The west end of the city is generally safe although some green spaces have poor lighting so would avoid after dark. Generally feel safe but take the usual precautions when travelling around alone.
Posted: April 15, 2024As a girl I am always wary of walking around anywhere myself once it’s dark, but I feel totally safe walking about Glasgow during the day myself, and would walk about myself at night if I stuck to lit and busy streets! People in Glasgow are generally very friendly and always happy to help if you need it!
