Is Glasgow Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Glasgow is generally safe for solo female travelers. The locals are known to be friendly and willing to help if needed. Like any other city, it has areas that are safer than others, and it is recommended to stay within the central, well-lit areas at night. Normal precautions when traveling alone such as not displaying valuable items openly and avoiding less busy areas late at night should be taken. Public transport is reliable and safe to use. The city is well policed, and in general, one should not expect to encounter any major problems.

I took the ferry from Belfast to Glasgow for a day trip! It was a very nice journey - had a lot of things to do and enjoy on the ferry itself! It was really good to see all the beautiful architecture in Glasgow. The steep roads and nice big parks were all at a walking distance from the City Centre! The people were also really kind and jolly in the streets!

I haven’t had any problems in Glasgow, though, it is a big city and in every big city you can have some looks as a girl. The people were very nice there and it was a great place to stay. I am used to “European culture” so that would definitely be different for everybody.

Walking alone at night can get creepy if you’re on the outskirts of the city, but otherwise pretty safe. The football nuts are who you need to worry about when there are big games. There was just a fire next to revolver hostel/nightclub allegedly started because of the Rangers and Celtics match today.

I was born in Glasgow and have lived here my whole life. I have always felt safe and still do. The Southside of Glasgow and the West End are a beautiful blend of diverse cultures, and artists who call it home. However, I would air some caution as in recent months anti immigration sentiments have spilt over. This may affect anyone who "looks different" Even though I would not say this is happening regularly, I do want to mention it as the political landscape across the UK is normalising...

I am a single girl in her 20s and I have felt safe 90% of the time. Of course that 10% is when you’re in rougher areas or it’s late at night. But for the most part I feel incredibly safe. Of course there is crime like any city but you just have to be careful

Glasgow is one of the friendliest cities in the whole world :) I never feel unsafe walking alone/at night. Most of the crimes in Glasgow are due to gangs/football, so if you're not involved in that you'll be fine. There are some areas that should be avoided like Easterhouse and Possilpark. The nicest areas are the West End and Shawlands.

Very friendly and helpful city and overall feel very safe. City centre is absolutely fine to walk alone at night but maybe still perhaps exercise caution in less crowded bits closer to outskirts or parks etc.
