Is Cardiff safe for solo female travelers?

Cardiff, being the capital city of Wales, is generally safe for solo female travelers. It has a low crime rate compared to other major cities in the UK. During the day, all areas are safe to explore. However, like any big city, it's always important to stay vigilant, especially at night, and stick to well-lit, populated areas. Public transportation is reliable and safe to use, and locals are often friendly and willing to help you if needed.

Solo travel

I visited Wales for the first time this year. I only managed to see Cardiff, but I liked this city much more than I expected. I was also shocked at how affordable prices were there compared to many other places, especially considering that I came from London.

Cardiff is a super safe city in the day time, so solo travellers don’t need to worry at all! In terms of at night, Welsh people are super super lovely and there will always be people around to help, however some people get far too drunk at night (the men) and can compromise you feeling safe. However, I have been a student here for 2 years and actually find it one of the safest cities in the UK

Cardiff is a very safe city. It is fun but also has its quiet spot. It is well located and has accessible transport to other cities. Its airport isn't much relevant, but you can always use Bristol's.

I’ve been staying in Cardiff for about three months. I stay at a student accommodation so I would say that does make it much safer because of all the security. But overall, since Cardiff is a purely residential area and it’s a lot of students because of the Univeristy, it’s quite safe and progressive. People are nice, I’ve never had a bad experience while being alone. Everyone has been quite respectful.

About me

Hi!! I’m Maddison😁I’m a 24 year old Counsellor and Psychotherapist living in Wales. After a difficult year last year, finding out I was Autistic and that i have a Connective Tissue Disease, i decided it was really important for me to do some solo travelling and soul searching to make peace with myself! Currently on a 3 week trip through Europe, Italy mainly. and whilst i am loving the quietness of my own company, i think it would be good for me to meet some people and make new connections! I have so many different interests and love to hear people talk about theirs; let’s chat? 😊
