Depends on the area you will feel safe or not. In tourists places is more common that you get robbed and in neighbourhoods with a lot of immigrants. There are crazy people on the streets like everywhere but in general is safe.
Posted: August 13, 2025I have never felt unsafe in London, I have had some weird experiences with men but nothing where I felt unsafe. There is a lot of mobile phone theft, including phones just being snatched out of people’s hands. This applies to zone 1 and 2 of London.
Posted: August 11, 2025Moderately safe but varies depending on how rough area is and there is a big discrepancy between boroughs- check the area first. General safety advice would be good to not walk after dark, let someone know where you are going and when, and stay in well lit roads. In general it is safe during the day

Depends heavily on the area and time of day. As a tourist do not stay out late alone, i wouldn't recommend going home alone at night. A lot of phone thieves in central/where tourists go. A lot of homeless people will ask you for stuff, more at night. Sometimes you just have to buy them water, but it can be scary as well. Much much safer in groups

London has a bad rep because of gang violence. If you are not part of a gang then nothing crazy happens in general. I walk and cycle alone, do night shifts. But obviously as any touristy place in central beware of pickpocket or phone grabs. Like Camden or Leicester Square. But don't stress about it. It is highly unlikely from millions anything is going to happen, but not impossible of course. The city is full of CCTVs and bobbies. Not to mention people are generally helpful.

I love London, and I’ve been there multiple times, both alone and with my family. I was 15 when I was in London alone for the first time. I stayed with some family, but I was mostly out alone. I feel safe walking around and haven’t had any uncomfortable experiences ‘yet’. I have mostly stayed around Pimlico, Knightsbridge or in Mayfair, love them all and feel safe. The people are relatively nice and open. The food is good and you can find all kind of foods and drinks, the prices are maybe a bit pricey though.
