London is pretty safe so long as you hang around the right areas. Follow common sense rules and keep your phone safe. People are friendly and willing to help. Be mindful in the dark and crowded areas.
Posted: October 5, 2024It is unsafe especially if you are a tourist! Don’t walk around with your phone in your hand or it will be stolen.Don’t make eye contact with anyone. Don’t speak to strangers. Try not to look like a tourist

London is one of those cities in which you need to put good attention on your surroundings. Always keep an eye out and don’t walk flashing your phone and belongings. Phones, bikes, cars and even houses suffer the most in this city.

London is a safe, multicultural metropolitan city where you can be whoever you want to be. There are loads of free things to do, including events, parks, street performances, spoken word events, live music and much more.

Generally it is safe-ish. Using common sense and avoiding weird locations. There are some ghetto kind of neighbourhoods, so there cat calling is a thing. Lately phone theft is super high, everywhere in London. So that I would really say it's what worrying me. Like every large metropolitan city, you have to be careful.
Posted: September 12, 2024I’m a girl in southwest London and I find it safe if you know the area you are in. I wouldn’t however walk with headphones in just in case. However, I never have an issue being out clubbing and getting home safe.
Posted: September 3, 2024Central london is relatively safe and well lit. It helps that there is almost always workers in the tube stations. The biggest concern is having your phone stolen by men on bikes - the police will do nothing to help you.
Posted: September 3, 2024It depends on where you go in London! Generally quite safe if you stick to the touristy areas. West and North London is also probably a bit safer than South and East London. Transport is very good so you can usually get home even when it's really late.
Posted: September 1, 2024There are certain areas to be alert in, especially at night, mainly east and south London where men newly arrived from different countries may still be unsure of British cultural gender norms. As such the only issues I’ve ever faced are from men who come from more religiously strict cultures and thus experience their own culture stock when arriving into London. Here men may assume they can treat you as a “loose” woman. I’ve had to shout really loudly at a man who was curb crawling me. Once he saw how offended I was and knew I was going to call the police and take his car number plate down, he drove off really quickly. Generally I’ve had very few issues from men who are either British born or have lived in London for many years and know that it is illegal to sexually harass a women. I feel protected by other men who might see illegal sexual harassment and have had several occasions where men check I’m ok and stick up for me and my girlfriends on nights out where other drunk men might be acting sexist towards us. Generally I feel safe in London at all times through the day. At night I feel safe too, as long as I’m in well lit busy areas. I feel safe travelling home at night. Uber rides and night buses with CCTV mean travelling home at night feels safe overall. But as always, where ever you are in the world, you must still be vigilant.
Posted: August 29, 2024London is a lot safer than scaremongering reports would lead you to believe. There are people around at all times of day and night so I rarely feel unsafe by myself. Use Citymapper for directions on getting around.

London is a fantastic city. I stayed in a residential area so I felt very safe with my kids. There is loads of things to do. It's an expensive city, but worth every penny. The food isn't great, IMHO, but you can find good deals at the market especially.

Overall I had a really good trip, specially important being one of my first solo trips. I stayed on an Airbnb that was exclusively for solo travelling women that made me feel really comfortable and secure, the neighbourhood (Southfields) was great as well. I found London to be an amazing city in terms of safetyness, it of course has some dangers being a big city as all of them but compared to Rome for example (where I lived for a year), London felt super safe, I received no cat calling and wasn’t afraid to walk around alone. Price-wisely it can be expensive, especially the food out, so I would recommend booking a place where you are able to cook so you can save some money. In contrast museums were totally free and I found a lot of activities to do that weren’t expensive. Aside from this some shopping was included on my trip that did up my budget a bit ;). Overall I feel like you can accommodate the trip to your budget. Public transportation was nice, allowed me to get everywhere comfortably, specially the tube which was fast and counts with a ton of stations. You can pay simply with your credit card which is nice as well. Some of the stuff I loved were the vintage and second hand shops, the markets and restaurants from other cultures. But overall my favourite thing was the lively vibe of the city, at least during summer, and the kindness of the people I encountered <3.
