Mobile phones are easily stolen, but everything else is fine. London does have some dangerous and disorderly areas, such as Elephant and Castle, but as long as you steer clear of these places, there's no need to worry about going out at night. Overall, London is a safe city, but visitors should remember to keep a firm grip on their mobile phones in busy areas to prevent them being stolen or snatched.
Posted: September 27, 2025I feel like it’s a very safe place, you just need to be aware of the place you should or shouldn’t be at after dark. And beware of phone pickpockets! Overall people are very friendly and the city is alive pretty much all the time so you’re never alone.
Posted: September 12, 2025London is safe but there are sketchy areas. It better to not walk around alone after dark, especially after a night out. There are people that would pickpocket you so be smart with your bags and belongings. If someone looks weird - trust your instincts
Posted: September 8, 2025Usually well lit and lots of people around to keep you safe. The only thing I would really worry about is your phone getting snatched, and unfortunately the police aren’t very reliable. However, I have never feared for my life.
Posted: September 5, 2025Generally safe - mainly beware of petty theft (particularly phone snatching) You should typically be safe if general precautions are made (keeping phone charged, knowing route home etc) Most central areas are safe at any time of night but i would not go alone at night as a woman into some of the suburbs (eg Brixton, Croydon etc)

I love London, and I’ve been there multiple times, both alone and with my family. I was 15 when I was in London alone for the first time. I stayed with some family, but I was mostly out alone. I feel safe walking around and haven’t had any uncomfortable experiences ‘yet’. I have mostly stayed around Pimlico, Knightsbridge or in Mayfair, love them all and feel safe. The people are relatively nice and open. The food is good and you can find all kind of foods and drinks, the prices are maybe a bit pricey though.
