Bergamo is a safe city in general especially in the morning you won’t face any problems but you have to be careful at night especially real careful near the station it is not safe at all during the night and a bit creepy in the morning! Città Alta and other parts in the middle are ok.

Bergamo is a enough safe city. There are occasional episodes of public robberies and a few episodes of assaults and murders on the streets, but generally it is a quiet city of the province. Obviously the male mentality could make you feel uncomfortable, especially in the evening, for example a catcalling situations.

Bergamo is a wonderful city, but like in every city there are some areas that are not so nice to be around. The train/bus station, unfortunately, is full of men from foreign countries, different ages that may start to annoy because drunk.

Bergamo is a relatevely small town and I think overall is pretty safe. There are some parts of the city I would not recommend after dark but I think I can give it a solid 3/5 in safety overall.

It is safe, even during the night if you stay in the city Centre or in the upper part of the city. I would say that it is not safe if you are near the bus and train station during the day but mostly during the night. In general it is a safe city if you stay far from the station. The buses are generally safe but often overcrowded.

Bergamo is a small town where you can find different activities to do, from funny to more cultural ones. I personally like it because I find it safe for girls (you need to choose where you’re going wisely always) but I consider Bergamo a safe place to stay. People are welcoming and friendly and everybody speaks or even try to speak english. If you know some italian words, we will be impressed and very glad to hear that. I suggest you to visit Città Alta bc it has a beautiful view that will leave you speechless, no joke. Hope this helps!

Bergamo is absolutely safer than Milan, it is a quiet city with few people around usually. The worst locations are the stations, you have to be careful when you take a train or a bus when it’s late but if you are with someone reliable it should be okay.

By avoiding the train station at night the city is mostly safe, the cases of crime that occur are mostly isolated cases and with low frequency. in the surrounding villages (i live 20 minutes by car from the city) there are a few cases of theft in the most isolated areas (it is not my case), most of them damage the objects and do not steal anything. currently there are groups of volunteers who do night patrols to prevent thefts

Overall the city is safe but like every other cities in the world you have to be careful what's going on around you!

During the day, the city is safe, you can walk peacefully, you have to pay attention to pickpockets, I have never had such experiences but I was told there are several. At night, on the other hand, the city is not very safe, it is better for women not to walk around alone, especially in the centre and in the station area. As a black woman, I have also been whistled at and catcalled numerous times even in the suburbs. The population is pretty old and often closed-minded.

Is Bergamo worth visiting?

Group travel

I went there in fall on a group trip and we went to bergamo Alta I think it is called, but I was the most beautiful place I have ever been 🩷 the locals are very sweet and the food is absolutely amazing 🤩

Couple travel

As someone with an American accent, I was not very well liked here, as to be expected in small town Italy. My partner and I got an excessive amount of stares and comments everywhere we went, mostly for the way we dressed or our body hair, etc. It is more of a place for an Italian tourist, not really an American or non-Italian for that matter.
