It depends on the neighborhood. In the center there is no problem, but in the suburbs I would be careful. Suburbs like Barriera di Milano or Aurora, as Lingotto or Mirafiori, sometimes San Salvario too, but now it starts to be redeveloped. In San Salvario there are many beautiful local too.

Turin, as other Italian cities has a mugging problem. You have to be very careful of your phone and wallet in the public transportation and around the train station. I never experienced sexual assault here, I did experience it a lot in Turkey (where I am from) and even in Munich (which is considered very safe). However, not in Turin. There is cat calling in some areas at night (barriera di milano) but I havent experienced it near centro. I am just worried of my phone and wallet getting stolen.

There are certain areas that you need to avoid in dark or while alone overall but the center is pretty safe and crowded, the possibility of being robbed is always there as it is italy but I did not have that problem (hopefully will not in the future too). Don't go to northern part alone and beware thet there is a tradition of using small explosives (the kind that kids use) during Christmas / new year

Turin Is a safe city, exceot from some Zones in which it's Better not to be alone at night. Walking during the day especially is a great experience and would recommend taking a tour of the city center. Public transportation Is super safe unless taken during the night when It gets a bit scarier ti wait for It at stops. Cabs May be a Better option but apart from that clubbing and bar hopping are rather safe experiences

Turin is generally a safe city, and I’ve personally never felt uncomfortable walking alone. Of course, safety can depend on the area you’re in. For example, in neighborhoods closer to the outskirts, like Barriera di Milano, the risk of something happening is higher, and it’s best to stay cautious. However, the city center is very calm and welcoming. It’s a lively area, thanks to the large student population, which gives it a vibrant and friendly atmosphere, even in the evenings.
Posted: December 24, 2024Turin is quite safe during the day in the city center areas (except for those near the station). At night, it is fairly unsafe almost everywhere; I never go out alone at night, not even with just one or two friends.
Posted: December 24, 2024It is safe during day but there are some parts of the town you should be careful. A predominantly immigrant population lives in these regions. But the city center is gorgeous. If you want to travel torino, I higly recommend to stay around city center. Also you should know that public transportation is ended after midnight and starts at 5 a.m

My evaluation mostly applies to the city centre and residential areas, which are perfectly safe to enjoy even alone, even after dark. Steer clear of the outskirts tho, especially Barriera di Milano, there's nothing to see there anyways
Posted: October 11, 2024It’s really safe, I really don’t think you should be worried at all! Even at night you can feel really safe in the city center and in the neighbourhood close by. Public transport is ok even if I advice you to use a bike because it s more convenient
Posted: September 23, 2024Turin is safe in mostly all areas, except for some streets as Corso Giulio Cesare and Via Nizza (porta nuova train station) where I wouldn’t recommend to walk alone at night. Just like major cities, you will want to be careful with pick pickers on public transport

I'm Emma and I live in Turin with my girlfriend, Daria! I'm a big fan of solo trips and so far I've been in Armenia for a month in 2022, and 15 days in Norway in 2023 where I worked in a farm through the platform wwoofing and then I spent some days in Oslo thanks to Giacomo, a local couchsurfer that left one of his apartments for me! I'm deeply interested in Ethology, Anthropology, postcolonial studies and global studies in general. I speak Italian and English and a bit of french (I really would like to be fluent in french too 🥹) Must confess I am kind of shy and introverted but when I feel at ease I can talk nonstop 🤓
