Very quiet at night as most tourists leave, however the large population of contract and port workers who are largely male and transitory consists of waves of anonymous working age men that have no plans to remain longterm, which can feel unsafe, like with any port city

venice is a very safe place, just be aware from pickpockets but over all it’s a nice place to stay to enjoy the Venice architecture and the bacaro tours( it’s a tipical Venetian thing to do, get to one bar to another and get drunk)

Venice is in pretty safe. Of course, at night, u have to pay attention wherever you wanna go. As the other city. In particular, in the small "calle" check every time you enter the street before go and it s better if u are with someone at night, 2 people is better than just one.
Posted: July 18, 2025i’m very scared to walk after the all movies that i watched. but also there are some teenagers can be angry or drunk, so especially at night have to be careful abt that. water and bridges sometimes gives a scary vibe
Posted: July 15, 2025Recently a girl from my school has gone missing. The other day while I was going to the train station Santa Lucia, a man looked at me directly in the eye and put his hand in his pants and kept smiling at me. I have been followed only once, in Mestre. Many of my friends got robbed or mugged especially in Mestre and around train stations.

Venice was a city I’d been dreaming about visiting since watching casino royale, and visiting it actually exceeded my expectations and hopes! I went in November and lucked out with a beautiful sunny day, with basically no crowds (visit Italy in November everyone). There were times I wandered down entire streets that were totally empty, such a cool experience for a place that’s often overwhelmed by people! The food was amazing and my hotel was great, because it was the offseason I scored a 4 star hotel for just over $100 a night. As far as safety goes, during the day I felt incredibly safe. Venice is a hard city to navigate, especially if you’re like me and don’t have any cash for the water taxis and are too cheap to buy the day pass. As I was walking around I kept wondering how people got anywhere before Google Maps existed (if you haven’t noticed I am not directionally inclined). Thanks to Google maps and an AirPod shouting directions at me I was able to get from place to place, with lots of dead ends and turn arounds. However, at night the quiet alleys of Venice feel a bit scarier as a lone female. In a practical sense there’s little to no danger but it is a bit eerie to walk down poorly lit empty alleys at night. I’m a nervous night walker in general, so I will always be a bit wary walking alone at night, but definitely keep in mind if you go in the offseason it will be very quiet after dark.
