Overall in the daytime I would say it's quite safe. You have to watch out for pickpockets on public transport and I'm sorry to say you could experience catcalling. At night I wouldn't recommend walking alone although I have friends that do, still not a fan, I don't feel safe. If you can please call a cab.
Posted: January 17, 2025I never had problems as a woman in Milan, though I heard a lot of stories where women where harassed or followed especially at night. There are some districts I wouldn't go at night, but overall the city is full of people, most of them are very nice and helpful! :-) Take care of pickpocketing in the metro!!

Unfortunately, Milan is not a very safe city I moved here recently, and personally nothing bad has happened to me. But I do know that it is becoming more and more dangerous I'm talking especially about nighttime, public transportation
Posted: January 14, 2025Milan safety has become worst in the last last years. there are areas where you can relax and others where you have to be careful. it is a problem, but personally i think that there are solutions for everything, so the key word is “foresee”. always bring with you pepper spry, alarm keychain, and always lock your bag. that's it ☺️
Posted: January 12, 2025Milan is generally safe, but like any large city, you should stay alert. While violent crime is rare, there’s often catcalling, especially in busy or touristy areas. Petty theft, like pickpocketing, can happen on public transport or crowded streets, so it’s important to be cautious in these situations.
Posted: January 12, 2025Honestly it’s not. Especially for girls. My suggestion is never to go out alone after midnight. Also because it’s difficult to came back home if it’s very late since a lot of public transportation and cabs are missing during the night.
Posted: January 12, 2025As a big city Milan is full of pickpockets around, especially in the subway. When it gets dark it’s better not to use buses especially lines 90/91, the metro is safer because it’s more frequented. The city center is basically safer but the outskirts not so much so it’s important to choose carefully where to stay. There are many safe and quiet places full of art and entertainment. It’s a city to be discovered and with a little caution it will make you fall in love with its vitality and energy.
Posted: January 12, 2025I’d say quite safe overall, although as a woman you have to be careful where you go at night: some areas are not particularly safe (such as Central Station). It’s best to enjoy a night out where there is a lot of night life

Well..... I think that, sadly, Milan is a city that talks by herself. I don't really feel safe in Milan and I avoid walking at a late time on my own or taking the public transportation (and I did experience that so that's why I try by best to avoid it) For this reason and because going to the center is not fast and safe, I don't experience Milan's nightlife a lot, I gather with my friends in places close to my house, easy to reach by car and safe.

- smell of weed everywhere; didn’t feel safe, lots of homeless and migrants, someone was buying drugs right in front of me (it was daytime); everything is expensive, basic pasta in a small cafe starting 9 euro; Italian cuisine gets boring on a 3d day. + hot men, my tinder turned into an art gallery; lots of designer shops with pretty windows must visits: duomo rooftop (terraces); da vinci’s last supper museum; monumental cemetery; brera gallery; como lake

I felt somewhat the same, but the area I was in was terrible. Overall, the trip was great! If you are planning to go alone, it's great to visit the city and nearby cities during the day. However, at night, it would be wise to stay in safer, crowded areas.
