In the last years it’s not so safe, be careful girls going around alone and keep always your bags closed. At night use taxi don’t use public transport at night it’s very dangerous and stay in the central parts of the city.

Milan is a city where I generally feel quite safe — but that’s also because I live in a central and safe area. Like in many big cities, it’s important to be a bit careful when walking alone at night or taking public transport late, especially in certain neighborhoods. In general, it’s better to use ride-sharing services or private transport if you’re out late.

Milan is moderately safe if you know which parts of the city to avoid at night. Metro is safe, most of buses are not (90/91/92 lines running at night are well known to be unsafe). If you can, go around in groups.
Posted: August 29, 2025Milan has changed a lot during the last 10 years becoming one of the less safe cities for women to walk alone in Italy. I recommend not going around alone after dark and being always extra careful on public transport. Keep your things next to you and watch for pickpockets.

Milan in the last years I'd say has become safer, BUT always keep both eyes open and be aware of the surroundings. There's more police around, for example in Central Station or Cadorna/Duomo, especially at night. The public transports are safe overall. There's a line (90 and 91 buses) that is known to be dangerous after a certain hour. The thing is that it's quite full of people sleeping there, cause it goes around the whole night. Just mind your own business and be near the driver. Overall, always keep your purse and personal belongings where you can see and feel them
