Milan is a big city, and it really depends on the time of the day and on the area you’re in. I would say during the day it’s pretty safe to walk on your own and i’m usually not worried about anything, maybe just be careful for pickpockets on the underground. On the other side, when it’s dark, i think there are some areas or streets, the less crowded ones, that you have to be more carfeul to take. My advice is to always keep eyes open and avoid to take the 90 bus at night ;)

Overall depends on the area of the city (there are some areas that are not safe and it’s better to avoid). However pickpockets are everywhere and it’s better to look after your things, especially in central areas or Centrale
Posted: February 18, 2025Even though it's a beautiful place for colture, hidden gems and activities, it is quite unsafe for women. If you stay in the center, zona Navigli or Chinatown for example, you're pretty safe, but there are areas like Corvetto and Quartoggiaro that are known for being anything but safe, especially for girls. And night time can be difficult if you're Alone, so gotta be careful

I do not live in Milan, but in the province and is definitely very quiet as a small town in the middle of the countryside. I walk alone during day, in the city or in the wood, and during night. But Milan has become more dangerous, in the evening I do not take public transport alone and even parking in isolated areas. During the day I am always attentive to who I have around, there are many pickpockets and "strange" people (men for the most). It’s a beautiful city, it has a lot of things to do and explore, but pay attention where you go, there’s a lot of criminality in the remote streets. Stay safe in public lighted spaces when you’re alone or with a little female group.
Posted: February 16, 2025Unfortunately there a lot of immigrant that are harassing women also during the day, so from 2020 ongoing Milan is kinda dangerous, you need to be very concentrated on the street. I don’t recommend to walk by night alone, not even with a group of girls. During the nigh you need a taxi to move around safely.
Posted: February 13, 2025It’s not a safe city for women, especially at night. it’s very common to find pickpockets on public transport and it’s better not to walk alone in isolated streets. in some areas there are men who catcall you
Posted: February 11, 2025Based on the statistics, Milan is not considered one of the safest cities in Italy, actually quite the opposite. On my personal experience is not that dangerous if you’re brave and careful enough; I’ve never had a single problem even when I was traveling alone, in the worst public transportation, during the worst hours and areas of the city; maybe I’ve been lucky but that’s my experience.
Posted: February 5, 2025It really depends on the area. The train station is the most unsafe, don't ever go around there at night. The subway is also pretty dangerous at night and you can get pickpocketed at every hour of the day

Centre of Milan is mostly safe both during the day and night. However there are some areas where you should be more cautious such as train stations. The major concern personally for me is being robbed so I’d suggest that you keep an eye on your belongings.
Posted: January 28, 2025Milan has safer areas and less safe area. Women can stay alone in Milan, but they, as in every other city, have to pay attention when they are alone in the street. In my experience, I feel safe when there are people in the street; if I have to go in some areas that aren't so crowded, I always ask a friend to accompany me.

I saw the La Scala Opera which was incredible, including the museum and the set design atelier. Incredible experience. I also attended Ludovico Einaudi’a concert at Teatro dal Verme. The city was lively even in the depths of winter and I felt safe. People were walking around at all times of the night as well.

About safety, I'm not really sure. I didn't feel much safe, but we gad an Airbnb in a dangerous zone... the Airbnb was great and the underground station was really close. It was easy to travel there. But everything was expensive there.

I am willing to offer the freedom and security I would like to receive☯️I love the concept of this app🌍 I am Italian🇮🇹 October 99, originally from a small town in Piedmont⛰️ For high school I studied in Genova, so in the week I was in a "college" with other people and from there I began to appreciate the dimension of community, hospitality and friendships in many places👪 I studied at the University of Turin and did an Erasmus in Amiens🇫🇷 I was never good with languages😅 but I realized that my curiosity about people was stronger than the skills I lacked🔆 Last year I did one Camino for Santiago by myself🎒 I am now in Milan and I feel it is the time of my life to travel, host, and continue to meet people all over the world🗺
