Milan is a beautiful city but I don't think it's very safe especially for girls in the evening/night. It depends a lot on the areas of Milan you're in, some areas like the city centre are pretty safe but others are not safe at all. I feel safe during the day mostly everywhere in the citycentre but at night I don't feel safe walking or taking public transports alone.

Milan is safe during the day but be aware of pickpockets. At night is way less safe, I don’t feel safe walking alone at night mainly outside of the center but also in the main areas I usually don’t take public transport because I have a car but my friends don’t recommend taking them alone at night

the public transport have a lot of pick pockets, if you’re alone i suggest calling an uber at night. also i suggest to not show anything expensive for example a watch or a gold chain in my opinion the most dangerous places are milano centrale/rogoredo/garibaldi and if you go to duomo don’t go to hidden places and even if you’re drunk don’t talk to much to strangers

Overall safe, but keep an eye on certain buses (91,91) and certain stations because bad people are usually around especially at night. During the day it is pretty safe, you just need to be conscious that a big city is dangerous by nature.
Posted: April 12, 2025You will find a lot of baby gangs around, almost everywhere. Personally I have only encountered them in some rare occasions but in general always be alert and bring something like pepper spray with you.

During the day I would say it is quite safe, you have to be careful about pickpockets but other than that I would say you are safe. You might experience some catcalling but other than that I would say you are going to be ok. At night it’s completely different; unless I’m in my neighborhood (which is a very peaceful and private neighborhood) I don’t ever walk alone at night. Buses are even worse than walking. Try to always stay in groups, better if there are boys too. I have never been assaulted of harassed but I’m always anxious that I will and therefore I’m very careful. If you go out clubbing with your girlfriends do not walk home or take the bus, I know it costs more but I really advise you to get a uber/taxi.

I think there are some zones in Milan that are not safe, especially at night, like near the train stations. But the areas that are most frequented at night, I think, are safer, like Darsena or Moscova. The same goes for public transport, that are usually very much frequented

It really depends on the city part. However, it’s always better to be accurate and attentive, especially in the evening - walk preferably with a company. Also, it’s important to pay attention to your belongings in the city center and while using the public transport.

Milan is a big city, and it really depends on the time of the day and on the area you’re in. I would say during the day it’s pretty safe to walk on your own and i’m usually not worried about anything, maybe just be careful for pickpockets on the underground. On the other side, when it’s dark, i think there are some areas or streets, the less crowded ones, that you have to be more carfeul to take. My advice is to always keep eyes open and avoid to take the 90 bus at night ;)

Overall depends on the area of the city (there are some areas that are not safe and it’s better to avoid). However pickpockets are everywhere and it’s better to look after your things, especially in central areas or Centrale

Amzing trip! fell in love with city! definitely can see myself moving to Milan😍 Affordable, beautiful and not too big. Very safe as well. We were two girls and stayed 4 nights. It was enough time to see the city but I wished we stayed longer and I will definitely come back.
Posted: April 21, 2025Experienced: August, 2024I didnt feel much safe in Milan. I met some weird people on the streets. I wasn't in danger but it still affected me I think there is less to see there than in other Italian city, they deserve more attention Overall it was okay, not so expensive. I rented good apartment for affordable price comparing to Swiss and France

I’m Anna, I was born in Milan (Italy) and lived here all my life. I was born in 2006 and in September 2025 I will be starting university in Utrecht (Netherlands). I love animals (I have 2 cats) and nature, I always enjoy netting new people and listen to their stories. The things I most enjoy talking about are literature and current events of the world, but really I can be interested in any deep conversation about any topic! I have also travelled all around the world on a sailing boat with my family, therefore I’be always felt really close to the sea, however, in recent years I’ve become even more fond of the mountains.

Hi, I’m Marta. I’m 20 years old and currently taking a gap year. I was born and have always lived in Milan but I have been traveling around a lot ever since I was little. I started studying mathematical engineering but realized I didn’t like it so after this gap year I’m going to study Neuropsychology in Groningen (Netherlands). I love traveling and the idea of meeting other girls around the world 🥰
