Crime has been increasing in the last few months, especially in my neighborhood, which is right next to the historical center. Luckily nothing has happened to me but in some areas of the city I wouldn't feel safe at all walking, especially at night. Luckily most streets are well-lit but you still need to be careful I think.

Genova is usually a pretty chill city. Generally safe for women, including at night. Unfortunately you might experience verbal harassment in the streets, and as in any other city in the world some places are more dangerous than others, don't hesitate to ask me about the specific places you want to visit! We have wild pigs in the woods near the city, it might happen to meet them at night near trash bins, looking for food. They're not aggressive and will only attack you if you bother them, so if you happen to cross them just play it cool, no screams and no sudden movements, and they'll let you be!

I don't think my city is very safe. The police take a long time to arrive if something happens. I don't feel safe, especially at night. There are almost never any patrols at night. I advise you to be very careful

Genoa is a relatively small city. Most People would visit the city centre only. Genoa expands beyond it, both West and East. Coastal area of the city is super safe. City centre it is super safe in day Light and mostly safeat night. It is like entering a labirynt of narrow streets. At night Best advice is to move around following the crowds. Public bus is ok. Maiby the n. 1(I believe at night turns number in 618) can be slightly less pleasant.
Posted: July 5, 2025I often walk home alone after visting a club and I neuer feel unsafe. Once my mobile phone has been stoßen on the bus and other girls report the same, so stay attentive. You should avoid the small streets next to Piazza de Ferrari at night.

My second solo trip. I felt in love with Genoa and I will come back there for sure. I stayed in a private room near old town. Which by the way is absolutaly amazing! With a maze of little streets perfect to get lost and discover it's beauty. Many interesting museums and palaces to visit. I also took a one day trip on Cinque Terre. It's very good idea to by Cinque Terre card. You can enter all trails and use the train between towns of this area with no limit. I recomend this.
