it depends on which part are you going to, in the center some ‘Vicoli’ are better than other less busy, the public transport are mostly safe but it can happen to encounter bad people, especially with women, but like in every city. If you are travelling alone i recommend zones like castelletto, albaro, the centre.
Posted: February 19, 2025In general, it is a fairly safe city. However, as in any other city, it is worth following basic safety rules. I also heard that the northeastern part of the city is the most dangerous. It is better not to walk alone on the beach at night, since during the warm seasons, you can often meet homeless people there.

all in all I feel quite safe, much more than many other Italian cities. Obviously I avoid some areas like the port (I only go there during the day or in company) some parts of the historic center (some alleys are very safe and in fact the nightlife is all there, in others I would never go there) and in general Darsena/Dinegro
Posted: January 25, 2025I think it is safe to stay, but i live in a good place of genova and have a great neighborhood, but from what I have heard from my friends it is a safe place and i heard not much about being rubbed just few times and without any violence.
Posted: January 15, 2025Genoa is a pretty safe city, during the day you can get around anywhere even on your own, you just have to be careful in transportation about your belongings. During the night it is less safe but it depends on the areas you are in. Some scones are totally safe even at night.
Posted: January 9, 2025Genoa is kinda safe in my opinion, not worse than any other big city in which I have been. During the day you can safely go everywhere without a single worry while when it’s dark you have to be a little more cautious. I suggest to avoid public transport if it’s very late (like in the middle of the night) if you are alone. I suggest to avoid “Vicoli” in the night if you are alone.
Posted: January 7, 2025Genoa is a really calm city. My first piece of advice would always be to stick to what feels comfortable to you, but coming from the outbarks myself and having also traveled and lived in other cities I can tell you that Genoa is one of the most peaceful places you can visit. People here are generally friendly, and while like anywhere it's always good to be aware of your surroundings, Genoa has such a welcoming vibe overall. It's definitely a place where you can feel at ease.

Genova is a beautiful port city with the biggest aquarium in Europe, it has the sea and the mountains together. For the safety I should say I am a party girl and besides studying I also worked full time for being sexually assaulted the city is quite the same as any other european cities. Also there are lots of illegal immigrants which doesn’t necessarily effect anyone as long as you are keeping yourself out of trouble, also at night I always go out or come back home everything is fine but the city at that time is dead so if you r not scared of being alone or of the dark, way to go!!
Posted: August 25, 2024It’s pretty safe in the center of the city although the more you move towards the western part of Genoa you may want to avoid Sampiardarena if not during the middle of the day. Places such as cornigliano, certosa or sestri ponente during the evening and the night are totally unsafe for non-locals
Posted: July 3, 2024I live in Genoa in a really nice and not-central area called nervi (which I would recommend for hikes to Sant'Ilario, and then getting a bus to Bogliasco, really nice sea). I would recommend walking with someone in the vicoli of Genoa, especially at night. Avoid Via pre and darsena and principe station at night IMO. I find them fairly safe during the day.

Genova is a beautiful and historical city in Liguria, it’s very famous for the little streets and it was amazing seeing this in person. There are many beaches and the sea around it, which are super beautiful. It was amazing, btw the food is incredibly good, I recommend the ravioli house for nice ravioli pasta 🇮🇹❤️

The good in Genoa was, just as somewhere else I have been in Italy so far, perfect. Great Seafood and Pasta, good Wine and delicious Gelato. Prices where a little bit higher than expected, but for the quality of the food it was totally fine. I took the train to La Spezia and visited Cinque Terre with a boat, which I can highly recommend to everyone who wants to enjoy also some "slower" travel days than you have in Genoa, where it can be very loud and stressful. However it was a great backpacking trip and I would visit Geno again.
