Considering that Rome is an enormous city, safety really depends on where you're staying. The center of the city is fairly safe for women (as any place can be), some periferic neighborhoods can be more dangerous. If you're alone, I would advise to take a LIME (electric bike service) to be safer.

It depends on the area that you are in, some areas are a bit risky than the others, overall we are in the capital so it's not that much risky but there are a lot of different people and especially at night everything is possible. I always prefer to be with someone.

Rome is not such a safe city, however in the center of the city there's often police or military so this can help feel safer. But it is really important to keep your eyes open all the time and especially in public transports keep your distance from strangers! In the external areas/suburbs it really depends on the area, some are quite safe other dangerous.
Posted: June 15, 2025I'd say it's pretty safe. I had one occurence in the crowded metro, where some man was eyeing my bag which was unpleasant, however, luckily nothing happened. Other than that people were really nice and friendly so I didn't feel unsafe or threatened. I'd stay away from metro and Termini during night though.

Rome is beautiful and Safe in day light but at night, I do not recommend girls hanging around alone unnecessarily as there have been cat calls, robberies and even rape attempts but all in dark specifically in Central Rome
Posted: June 10, 2025Rome is really safe inside the ring of city center . Don’t take so much precious things with yourself and you are safe . Stay inside the ring (city center). Take care of pick pockets. That’s all you should do in rome.

Rome is definitely a pearl of history. There is a lot of delicious food there. If you like good coffee, then look for specialty coffee on the map of any city. I drank in the Roman “Faro” (name of coffee place). I liked everything. Every corner of the city is like a piece of architecture, but at the same time watch your wallets. I will say about my experience this way... Rome once and... that's enough) I know that many will disagree with me, but I liked the colorful Naples and cozy Bari more.
Posted: June 20, 2025During my trip to Rome i felt safe I'd say. Never really thought too much about it, because the people were so nice and friendly. I only had one unpleasant occurence in the crowded metro, so I'd stay away from it during night and be extra careful with my belongings and surroundings. Other than that, everything else felt safe enough. Once you get a hold of how metro and Termini station work, it can be really handy. Rome is a walkable place, so you won't need transportation all the time which I liked. Keep in mind that Rome is on the expensive side though. You will spend some good money there. Locals are always ready to help, which I liked the most during my trip!
