I felt mostly safe this trip! I had experienced some sexual harassment (verbal only) on past trips to Italy while walking around so I was weary about travelling solo in Italy but it was fine! I got called out to by a few men but I think they were trying to sell me stuff so i just disregarded them. On my train to the airport a man did sit across from me and we spoke to each other in broken French and he was apparently trying to hook up with me which was not a fun experience but I didnt feel unsafe, just uncomfy. Since Florence is so touristy I think the risk of being assaulted or harassed on the streets is really low. I didnt go clubbing or to bars so I can't review those, but the walking I did in the evenings was for the most part fine I wouldn't be worried as long as you are aware of your surroundings:)

I’m using every day subway: subway, using so safety and cheapest. Santa Maria Novella station near the menu famous place if you want shopping or if you want walking famous place all is so near. Local food restaurant is cheapest all the best museum are there.
Posted: May 19, 2025I think Florence is a kind of safe city, since it’s small and full of young people such as university’s students. Also, there’s always someone in the streets because the city is almost always “awake”. Pay attention to your bag and stuff on public transportation, since someone could try to rob you (but like almost everywhere, don’t panic). Don’t walk around Cascine Park and the Central station of Santa Maria Novella alone in the night. I think Florence is pretty fine and you’ll be okay.
Posted: April 13, 2025Quite safe, if you stick to center especially in the tourist season, it feels pretty safe when you’re walking after dark… pickpockets are a huge problem though, in the public transport you have to be super ca
Posted: April 9, 2025In my opinion florence is generally a quiet city. You have to be careful, and in crowded places or on public transport you need to keep an eye on your backpack or bag. It is not a very active city at night, except for some small areas in the centre, so at night I do not feel very safe taking long walks alone in almost deserted streets. At night there is very few public transport (the routes end around midnight/1.00).

Florence is a beautiful city but right now it is full of tourists and so many people therefore it's getting very crowded and more dangerous than before. I wouldn't say you can't enjoy yourself being fully carefree but be careful of your surroundings everytime. Always have a vigilant eye on your belongings and for solo women be always sure that someone you trust know where you are. Better safe than sorry! Otherwise have a nice experience in Florence there are tons of visit and amazing place to see

What an amazing city!!! From beautiful sights, people, culture, foods, and overall outstanding hospitality- I loved this city! I heard before traveling, to make sure I watched my belongings & be aware, which I did, but I never felt unsafe- even at night. I would absolutely go back!

Where to begin! This was my favorite trip I've taken, Florence exceeded my expectations so much! As an art lover, exploring the museums and history was so invigorating, I had an amazing time hopping around the churches, palaces, museums, and squares. The city was safe and so clean and the food was delicious!! It honestly wasn't too expensive, cappuccinos were usually 1.50€ and far better than the coffee you get anywhere else and my meals were usually less than 10€! I did mostly eat takeaway paninis (All'Antico Vinao is worth the wait!) And lots of gelato😋 I took a few day trips to Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, and Lucca and all were so beautiful and unique experiences! Getting to see a bit of the Chianti region and countryside was so lovely, and I especially enjoyed San Gimignano I would highly recommend! I felt safe everywhere, the only place I was on guard was around the Santa Maria Novella Train station as it was quite hectic but I never felt truly unsafe. My hostel (yellowsquare) was about 25 minutes out of the city and I never had any issues walking alone to/from there, even though some more isolated areas. If you enjoy medieval history, folk and fiber arts I'd highly recommend Palazzo Davanzati, it was my favorite museum of the trip and so underrated! I also bought the Firenzecard for all the museums and it made it so much more affordable to visit everything and the process of getting inside super smooth! I was able to reserve spots for the Uffizi and Accademia for free and skip the queues😊 I'd be happy to recommend restuarants (mainly gelato and coffee) and things to do, I packed a lot in but had the best time!
