I often experience catcalling when going out alone or with female friends. Usually doesn’t go more than that. Very late in the night it can be dangerous to be alone, I fear drunk men. But in crowded places it’s usually not a problem. The police is always around on weekends or crowded evenings. Anyway I always feel like not bringing very expensive stuff around if I’m going/ coming back alone from a place to where I live. Often when parking there are annoying people asking for money to ‘control your car’.

I would describe bari as a fairly safe city but it depends on where you're walking. Around the center it's pretty safe except for the station and neighboring areas. Clearly the further you move away from the center the more unsafe it becomes
Posted: January 2, 2025Overall it’s safe but you have to be always careful , in public transportation I have noticed some harassment ( verbal ) , also one time an old guy tried to invite me to meet , these stuff happen everywhere really so being careful is a must

I always felt very safe in Bari. The city is know to be dangerous on some guides on the internet, but after living there for 8 months, I never experienced any danger. Walking home alone at night never felt like a problem for me. I stayed in the city center, just fyi
Posted: July 17, 2024Bari is a really safe place, only in the evening in some areas you may be the only person walking and you may feel uncomfortable but for the rest you will be immediately welcomed by everyone and you will feel at home, avoid the "libertà" neighborhood

I have a family house in Conversano, went to Bari, Polignano al Mare, Monopoli, Matera, Alberobello. Really nice spot to swim in Polignano, Matera was great, loads of films shot there. Downside is it's all gotten really touristy, so busier and more expensive. Amazing gelato at L'Incontro in Conversano. But it is also where the most men have eyed me up, asked me inappropriate things.
