First time (and so far, only time) solo travelling and it was the most amazing experience ever! Met a lot of awesome people, tried authentic middle eastern and chinese food for the first time. Very friendly people, didnt have a problem with pickpockets or scams. Stumbled upon a pro-palestine protest and regained my hope in humanity, would definitely go again!!

Edinburgh is a very safe city for solo travel. The public transportation system is easy to navigate. There are so many castles and estates to explore. Don’t miss the highland cows. I highly recommend.

Did a study abroad trip to Oxford when in college. It was a great first experience traveling without family and doing it with a group but still solo in a way. My friends enjoyed Cafe Tarifa as a hot spot to visit. This was a long time ago so not sure if there still there. Try your hand at punting in the river for a fun activity.

Mostly safe but there is the odd crime, mostly drunk lads around the city centre and in pubs and clubs on the weekends. Overall it is very safe for tourists and travellers and most crime are due to people getting wasted then kicking off.
Posted: July 11, 2026Edinbrugh is a safe city. There is a small very small homeless/ drug overuse scene in certain areas that might scare people but the reality is cooming from someone who lives there is that they will not bug you
Posted: July 8, 2026It has its bad areas like everywhere, uphill generally feels safer than downhill, wouldn’t walk on my own at night- but I wouldn’t anywhere! Never had any issues with safety. Safe to walk alone in the day.
Posted: July 7, 2026Maidenhead is a very safe area. Most crime is bike theft / similar. Rarely hear about violent crime. Parks at night are the only dodgy areas that I know of. Town and most residential areas are very safe.

Hellooooo I’m Kelly and originally from Hong Kong but now on a working holiday in the UK and have moved to Manchester since 2025. I don’t really have any goals in life or a particular passion for anything so i’m always just wandering around by myself to see what really sparks my interest. Currently I’m into photography but very amateur, and also gardening i’m planting some strawberries and they are growing very well:)) Oh I also like music and movies, i know everyone has a Slipknot phase but i’m still in mine, i used to work in a cinema as an usher just to take a sneak peek at the new movies during breaks, love me Ghibli, my favourite animes of all time are Fullmetal Alchemist and Evangelion (I know pretty basic but based) My native language is Cantonese but I’m also fluent in Mandarin and English, know a bit of Japanese and Spanish which I definitely want to be more fluent! Also i love the cartoon show Moomin, it’s my dream to visit Finland and see them in Moomin World, maybe i can meet Santa Claus as well :)) I’m planning to travel around the UK and Europe before my 26th birthday in November so look forward to seeing you all beautiful faces xx

We are US citizens but have spent about a decade residing in the UK. We are a 30-minute drive outside of Cambridge and our small "city," is a city because of its cathedral, but I personally consider it a town. Joined this platform for travel buddies and hosts. Occasionally meeting up and hosting ourselves when possible. If you're willing to accept myself and daughter as guests, please message. Travel dates and destinations are flexible; as long as the kids are off school. I will typically travel alone or with my two daughters using this platform. We are hoping there's some hosts and travellers we can connect with. We also travel with my husband or do couples trips, but I joined this platform specifically for times my daughters and I travel together without their father. We have to have our girly days out, too 💓 We three enjoy board games, easy family video games as well, walks, both of my children love water, shopping, and food. We also all love travelling when we can. We three dabble in amateur photography. We will try new things and enjoy sharing our meals. Fundamentally easy going; if I say so myself. We do regular trio outtings in/around England but we would love to do more international mommy & daughter trips. Our first trio trip was backpacking from Dublin to Carna and back. Why? Our eldest asked to go on another holiday; while we were in Greece. On holiday, the audacity. I know haha. I immediately said no, but when we got back home. I thought, "why not?" So we flew into Dublin and headed to Carna with our backpacks. The second trio adventure was to Denmark. We decided to squeeze in one last trip before they returned to school. Our third trio trip was a catsitting exchange in Italy. This arrangement was honestly splendid. The host said the cats just needed two meals a day and their daily medication. Due to this she recommended we take the train and explore neighbouring cities for the day. We were able to explore: Venice, Bologna, Verona, Garda Lake, Valpolicella, and a variety of other activities/locations. All while making it back in time for supper and bed. 2 active on the go days and stayed inside the 3rd day. We repeated this until our departure.
