Is Carlisle Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Carlisle is generally quite safe for solo female travelers. While common sense precautions should always be taken, the locals are friendly, and the city is easy to navigate. It's rich with history, culture, and nature. However, like all urban areas, be aware of your surroundings especially during late nights. Public transport is efficient and can be used safely.

Carlisle can be nice. I personally live in a nice quiet and perfectly safe area surrounded by lovely neighbours. Some other areas such as raffles can be rather rough and the crime there can be quite high although I don’t have a lot of information about it. The police could definitely do a lot more to resolve this.

Carlisle is generally very safe - like any city it can have its issues, but overall I feel safe even as a woman alone at night ! Botchergate is the main area for going out, and because of that it can get a bit rowdy on a Saturday night but still in general I always feel safe even!

I consider my home city of Carlisle to be safe. Although it would appear that the crime rate is higher than the National average for the North West UK this maybe localised to specific groups I have never felt unsafe in thd town centre
