Is Erfurt worth visiting?

Solo travel

Was on a multiple day bicycling tour through Germany. Spent one whole day in Erfurt. Very pretty city and also (without planning) was there during the happening of a music festival. No entry fees which I absolutely loved and very good music and vibes. People dancing everywhere and also nice decorations. That trip made Erfurt one of my favorite cities in Germany.

Erfurt is the capital of Thuringia. It’s still kind of a small city. At least it feels like it. After you lived there a while you know a lot of people and a lot of people know you. It’s pretty common that you get talken to in the city and sometimes people also harass you. Driving at night with the tram is horrible. You get harassed a lot

Erfurt is a pretty safe place regarding pickpocketing etc. There might be some catcalling, but you’ll mostly be left alone. Please note though: With the growth oft the fascist party afd there has been a notable rise in racist comments towards poc and insults towards queer or leftist-looking-people (for example on public transport). Stay safe!
