Safety:Very safe

Erfurt is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. Like any location, it's always important to use common sense and take precautions, especially when walking alone at night or in less busy areas. However, crime rates are relatively low, and the locals are typically friendly and helpful. Moreover, public transportation is reliable, and the city is well-lit, making it easy to navigate even after dark.

Transport:Easy

Erfurt is quite manageable for solo female travelers. The city is compact and most tourist attractions are within walking distance from each other. There is also a vast network of trams and buses covering the entire city and surroundings, making it easy to navigate. Most locals also speak English, which could be helpful if you need assistance. However, remember to stay aware of your surroundings, especially during the late hours.

Things to do:Interesting

Erfurt is an appealing destination with charming architecture and rich history. Must-visits include the Erfurt Cathedral, the Merchant's Bridge, and the Old Synagogue - the oldest surviving synagogue in Central Europe. The city has several museums like the Natural History Museum and the Erfurt Theatre. The city's vibrant culinary scene will tantalize food lovers, and the surroundings offer beautiful trails for hikers. However, it lacks the bustling nightlife of bigger German cities.

Food:Above average

Erfurt's culinary scene is both diverse and savory, offering a range of German dishes as well as international cuisines. Famous for Thuringian bratwurst and dumplings, its street food is worth trying. In addition, there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available. The sweet tooth is also catered for with delightful bakeries and cafes. While it may not rival larger German cities for culinary variety, the quality of the food is second to none.

Budget:Moderate

Erfurt, is moderately budget-friendly for solo female travelers. Accommodation options range from budget hostels to mid-range hotels that are reasonably priced. Eating out can be inexpensive if you stick to local eateries instead of dining at high-end establishments. Major attractions like the Erfurt Cathedral and Krämerbrücke have minimal to no entrance fees. However, prices can increase during peak tourist season.

Is Erfurt worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

Was on a multiple day bicycling tour through Germany. Spent one whole day in Erfurt. Very pretty city and also (without planning) was there during the happening of a music festival. No entry fees which I absolutely loved and very good music and vibes. People dancing everywhere and also nice decorations. That trip made Erfurt one of my favorite cities in Germany.
