Is Adelaide good for solo travel?

Safety:

Safety:Very safe

Adelaide tends to be quite safe for solo female travelers. The city is friendly, with plenty of well-lit and populated areas, and there is a good public transportation system to get you from place to place. However, as with any location, it's always crucial to be aware of your surroundings and take standard travel safety precautions, especially at night.
Transport:

Transport:Easy

Adelaide is quite easy to navigate, especially the city center which is laid out in a grid. There are comprehensive public transport options such as buses, trains, and trams. Cycling is quite prevalent and there's also the option to explore on foot if you prefer. Some of the outer areas can be a little more challenging to reach without a car though.
Things to do:

Things to do:Interesting

Adelaide offers wide-ranging activities and attractions for solo female travelers. It's home to an astounding number of beaches, where you can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, and surfing. You can also explore the city's lush parks, such as the Adelaide Botanic Garden or take a stroll around Adelaide Zoo or Cleland Wildlife Park to meet charming native animals. The city’s museums, including the South Australian Museum and Art Gallery of South Australia, provide an impressive history and cultural immersion. Plus, Adelaide's food and wine scene is a gastronomic delight, with its numerous cafes, restaurants, and wine tours in the Barossa Valley.
Food:

Food:Above average

Adelaide offers an exciting array of diverse cuisines that reflects its multicultural heritage. You can find a wide range of culinary delights from all around the world here, with a heavy emphasis on locally sourced, fresh produce. In addition to the contemporary Australian dishes, you would also find a plethora of options when it comes to Asian, Italian, Greek, and other ethnic foods. The city is also globally recognized for its exceptional seafood and wine selection. However, while the food scene is quite diverse and of high quality, Adelaide is not as big as some of the other Australian cities like Sydney or Melbourne, so your options might be slightly less expansive compared to them.
Budget:

Budget:Moderate

Adelaide can be moderately budget-friendly for solo female travelers. Main attractions like art galleries, museums, and going for a stroll at Rundle Mall or Adelaide Botanic Garden can be done free of cost. Food and accommodation options range from affordable to upscale, offering plenty of choice depending on your budget. However, certain experiences like wine tours in the Barossa or traveling to Kangaroo Island can significantly increase your expenses.

Solo travel

I highly recommend visiting the Barossa Valley in the countryside, the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale (all of them have amazing vineyards and outstanding culinary opportunities). The area around McLaren Vale also has some of the most beautiful coastlines (Port Willunga/Aldinga Beach). The city of Adelaide is small, beautiful, and easy to get around. If you want to watch an AFL match while staying in Australia, the stadium in Adelaide is smaller and not as overwhelming as those in Melbourne and Sydney. Around East Terrace, there are great shops and dining spots. Peel Street and Leigh are other places not to be missed in Adelaide for atmospheric bars and food lovers. The famous Penfolds winery is also located 10 minutes from the city.

Solo travel

In Adelaide, I recommend going on winery tours either to Barossa Valley or to McClaren Vale, and visiting the central markets in the CBD to try local food and products.

Is Adelaide safe for women?

Couple of suburbs to avoid but very good. Especially when there are large events on like Illuminate or the Royal Show. Cops are friendly and approachable. Some incidents on the train lines, mostly just kids harassing other students/bullying kids from other schools but locals always step in.

Adelaide is a beautiful city with many lovely green parks & gardens. It is generally a small, safe & pretty city with good/high quality food & cafes, kind, friendly & helpful people & a higher awareness generally, possibly due to all of the clear quartz crystal in the region.

About Me

I enjoy reading books, watching movies and TV, getting out in nature, exploring new places, trying new foods and travelling. I enjoy walking and hope to do some hiking on my travels. In the future, I'd love to walk part of the Camino Del Santiago in Spain. I love animals, good conversation, and slow travel. I don't drink alcohol anymore but I'm ok with others drinking around me and I don't smoke. I have so many places and adventures on my bucket list! I'd love to explore Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Vietnam, Cambodia, Canada, South America and Morocco (and so many more). And I'd love to bungee jump, even though it terrifies me!

Local tips

Adelaide’s Central Market, Barossa Valley & Adelaide Hills are ‘must visit’ destinations for all foodies, with so much j to offer everyone, from vegans to carnivores. March (or Mad March as it has become known, due to the proliferation of events scheduled at that time of the year) is one of the best & most inspiring & exciting times to visit Adelaide. It is the time of year when Adelaide hosts the Adelaide Festival, Womad (World Music Festival) & the Clipsal 500 motor racing
