Is Brisbane Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Brisbane is widely known for its high level of security. Most people, locals and tourists alike, find it to be a very welcoming environment. The level of crime is relatively low compared to other cities worldwide. The public transport is also safe to use, even during nighttime. Nonetheless, it is always recommended to remain cautious, especially when traveling alone and at night. Like any other big city, it has its safer and less safe areas, but it certainly stands out for being more secure on average.

As an Asian womon, it might be dangerous, especially around teenagers, but overall it’s a pretty good place! Public transport is currently only 50 cents, so it’s very affordable. It has beautiful natural scenery and plenty of great restaurants. Although it’s a smaller city than Sydney or Melbourne, its wide variety of events and warm climate make it a perfect place to live or visit.

Brisbane was a fun city. There for 4 days and got to experience some of the wildlife they have and explore the city. Night life is really active. People were mildly friendly. Cleanliness was not bad but not great. Food options were endless. Shopping was top tier. Prices were not great. Ubers were expensiiivvveee.

There are plenty of nice cafes and places to eat! I also love walking by the river at Kangaroo Point and New Farm or attending a salsa class in West End. However, safety at night can be a concern, I wouldn’t walk alone at night.

Art galleries are very cool. Great free walking tour from the Brisbane greeters. Kayak through Brisbane guided tour- fun experience but would recommend just paying to hire the kayak as it wasn’t much of a tour. I stayed in fortitude valley, and the other travellers where mostly in groups and aged 18- 24

I moved here 3 years ago and do really love it. Smaller city but expanding. So much to do with sunny coast and Gold Coast and Byron bay near. Really safe but Ofcoarse depends where in Brisbane you are just like all cities

Public transport is quite bad and ends early on weekends. Always google and check! Do look around the University of Queensland. The great court is really pretty. The fake beach at southbank is not worth visiting. Drive up a little to Sunshine Coast and u can see more beautiful beaches. Noosa's Hell's Gate hike was the prettiest hike I've ever been to. Saw so many wild dolphins up close and humpback whales during the whale season. The beaches are beautiful too. Drive down a little to Lamington...

The surroundings of Brisbane are charming. Without a doubt, the Gold Coast offers a more exciting urban leisure experience, and for fans of this type of entertainment, there are also theme parks there. On the Sunshine Coast, there are beautiful beaches, cafes, and restaurants. On both the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, you can find fantastic hiking trails. All the sandy islands are great, especially for diving. Cairns is definitely one of the highlights of the holidays. The town may not be...

Incredible restaurants on Southbank, criminals on the Howard Smith Wharves, it's a great place for a Sunday afternoon. Be sure to visit the Sunshine Coast, Caloundra, Mooloolaba, and Noosa. Any restaurant on Hasting Street in Noosa will be amazing. The best beaches in the world. Also, if you can get to Airlie beach, there is a fantastic catamaran tour, a journey around the Whitsundays, which will take you to the reef for snorkeling.

Very safe, especially the inner city. No money scams or pickpocketing… public transport staff are always helpful, as well as most locals. Nightlife is quite tame although there can be the usual rowdy people. Still friendly though.

The inner city is easy to navigate and public transportation is phenomenal. Bus stops, train stops- they all feel generally safe and it doesn’t bother me to walk around alone at night. Absolutely take caution wherever you travel, but Brisbane is in no way a high risk or crime ridden city.

I think it’s reasonably safe to walk around outside at night, but obviously always need to stay vigilant. I personally have no had any bad experiences but there are many people around who feel entitled and have potential to hurt.

Super safe. I have walked home alone at 3 in the night. In the city and fortitude valley though there are people who may be under the influence and might try to talk to you, I just ignore and keep walking.

During the day most parts are safe but night can be dangerous especially around train and bus stations as well as parts of the city (alleyway areas). If you're sure to not walk with headphones and be aware of your surroundings it is normally safe and I have been out many times with very few incidents. It can also be dangerous to approach people sleeping on the footpath as I have been attacked before doing this so definitely dont do this.

Generally safe but need to take care in the inner city/Spring hill after dark due to drug abuse. Some areas are poorly lit (outside CBD). Some harrassment from men and teenage boys to be expected - generally comments.

About me

I'm Agnes, 42yrs old. But very young at heart. Try to have loads of fun and take life not too seriously. When travelling, I love to be shown things off the beaten path. Not interested in that Instagram awesome restaurant. I want to eat where locals eat. Also keen for some urban exploring (abandoned buildings) I'm an animal lover and won't join in un-ethical animal encounters (bathing elephants, swimming with dolphins, etc) If you're like-minded and want to catch up for an adventure, get in touch!!
