I personally feel no danger, I have once had my phone stolen but there was no danger involved. I had left my phone unattended at the beach. I have taken public transport and did not worry. Night time as a woman I always stay alert but I’ve never felt like I needed to watch over my shoulder.

The city and suburbs of Adelaide a generally safe. There are a few suburbs out north that I would be wary of. The CBD can also be scary at night as a single woman but generally safe if you are with people.
Posted: May 7, 2025Very safe to live in. I live alone and I’ve never been worried for my safety. I think that like anywhere you need to have your Witt’s about you but providing you’re being generally aware in my area and the city in general it’s very safe
Posted: February 11, 2025After living in Adelaide for my entire life (21 years), I would consider Adelaide extremely safe. I live and have lived quite close to the city centre, so for me I have found my experience to be a positive one. I have walked home on many occasions and have felt fine. This may differ depending on how far outside of the city you are located, though.

Adelaide has high and low crime level suburbs. The higher crime is extremely north and south of the city and not to be worried about in suburbs closer to the city. Police response time is very good especially in places anticipated for some crime.
Posted: January 15, 2025Couple of suburbs to avoid but very good. Especially when there are large events on like Illuminate or the Royal Show. Cops are friendly and approachable. Some incidents on the train lines, mostly just kids harassing other students/bullying kids from other schools but locals always step in.

Great time in Adelaide! Specially in February with the Adelaide Festival, one of the biggest festival in the world! We never felt unsafe in Adelaide, the food was great with a lot of choices. People were very nice and helpful.
Posted: February 29, 2024I highly recommend visiting the Barossa Valley in the countryside, the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale (all of them have amazing vineyards and outstanding culinary opportunities). The area around McLaren Vale also has some of the most beautiful coastlines (Port Willunga/Aldinga Beach). The city of Adelaide is small, beautiful, and easy to get around. If you want to watch an AFL match while staying in Australia, the stadium in Adelaide is smaller and not as overwhelming as those in Melbourne and Sydney. Around East Terrace, there are great shops and dining spots. Peel Street and Leigh are other places not to be missed in Adelaide for atmospheric bars and food lovers. The famous Penfolds winery is also located 10 minutes from the city.
