Couple of suburbs to avoid but very good. Especially when there are large events on like Illuminate or the Royal Show. Cops are friendly and approachable. Some incidents on the train lines, mostly just kids harassing other students/bullying kids from other schools but locals always step in.
Posted: July 24, 2024Adelaide is a beautiful city with many lovely green parks & gardens. It is generally a small, safe & pretty city with good/high quality food & cafes, kind, friendly & helpful people & a higher awareness generally, possibly due to all of the clear quartz crystal in the region.

I generally feel safe walking around Adelaide and have had no issues so far. People are very friendly in Adelaide and will usually step in to help if something happens. I have lived there for 10 years and have caught public transport late at night on my own from the city.
Posted: May 1, 2024Adelaide is a safe city in general and good for solo female travellers. You can walk around the city during the day and feel safe, or ask people for directions or help and they'll generally be fairly helpful. At night it's still safe in the city, just exercise a little caution by staying in well lit areas and not going anywhere you're not sure about (trust your instincts and be safe, as you would anywhere). Like any place, some suburbs in Adelaide are safer than others so ask a local or someone at your accommodation if you're not sure. But in 40 years of living in Adelaide I've never encountered anything more troubling than a weekend drunk being a bit loud on public transport or a few teens with attitude. Drivers can be jerks sometimes so, where possible, avoid tail gating and if someone else does something stupid in traffic try to just ignore them and not engage. Usually drivers are ok but sometimes they might honk you, use a hand gesture or, very occasionally, yell at you. You'll avoid this on freeways by staying in the left lane unless you're overtaking another car. But overall Adelaide is pretty safe.

Great time in Adelaide! Specially in February with the Adelaide Festival, one of the biggest festival in the world! We never felt unsafe in Adelaide, the food was great with a lot of choices. People were very nice and helpful.
Posted: February 29, 2024I highly recommend visiting the Barossa Valley in the countryside, the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale (all of them have amazing vineyards and outstanding culinary opportunities). The area around McLaren Vale also has some of the most beautiful coastlines (Port Willunga/Aldinga Beach). The city of Adelaide is small, beautiful, and easy to get around. If you want to watch an AFL match while staying in Australia, the stadium in Adelaide is smaller and not as overwhelming as those in Melbourne and Sydney. Around East Terrace, there are great shops and dining spots. Peel Street and Leigh are other places not to be missed in Adelaide for atmospheric bars and food lovers. The famous Penfolds winery is also located 10 minutes from the city.

I enjoy reading books, watching movies and TV, getting out in nature, exploring new places, trying new foods and travelling. I enjoy walking and hope to do some hiking on my travels. In the future, I'd love to walk part of the Camino Del Santiago in Spain. I love animals, good conversation, and slow travel. I don't drink alcohol anymore but I'm ok with others drinking around me and I don't smoke. I have so many places and adventures on my bucket list! I'd love to explore Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Vietnam, Cambodia, Canada, South America and Morocco (and so many more). And I'd love to bungee jump, even though it terrifies me!
