Breda is a very safe city in the netherlands, its cosy and the people are very friendly and helpful. Public transport is accessible, streets are well lit and the clubs are well secured. Only bikes tend to get stolen so make sure you lock it well.
Posted: March 13, 2025Breda is a fun and social city, but like most places it has its dark sides. I tend to stay away from these sides at night or I travel with a friend. Nothing ever happened to me badly, only name calling or following. But this is by the people who are mentally ill, there's usually always cops nearby or other people who can help. But most of the places are and feel save.
Posted: February 22, 2025Overall very safe. Of course don't go through dark alleyways at night but that counts everywhere you go. No scary/unsafe neighbourhoods. People generally leave you alone apart from an occasional homeless person in need of money for shelter.

The town is generally safe. However, I always feel tense when I see large groups of men walking in big groups and being loud at night. It is also frequent to get yelled at by passersby on the bike. Didn't happen to any of my friends but happens to me all the time.
Posted: December 30, 2024Breda is a nice city to shop and to go out, only after dark you need to be a little carefull. There are a lot of nice and big stores in the centrum and also bars and restaurants. If you want to have a nice walk, you can go to liesbos.
Posted: December 26, 2024Very safe. I don’t mind biking back home in the middle of the night. Maybe would not go walking in certain parts outside of the site after 1 am. No worries at all about being robbed, mugged or kidnapped. In certain parts of Breda you might get cat called.
Posted: July 16, 2024Been living here for 7 years and I find the city too posh and too young to be dangerous. We have old rich people and many students. For example, I biked alone at 4am so many times and never had issues.

Breda is safe for women. It is the same as a lot of other places in the Netherlands, where I would never recommend anyone to walk after dark in a quiet area, but besides that I feel really safe in Breda
