The Hague is generally a safe place to visit. People are friendly, very approachable and willing to help. Most speak English too. Certain neighborhoods, such as Schilderswijk and Laakkwartier, are to be avoided. Like many other cities at night, just be vigilant and keep an eye on your belongings.
Posted: May 8, 2024We've been living here for 4 months and it feels like a very safe place to live, at least in the district we live in and the surroundings. Feels safe to venture out in the evening or night on a bike.
Posted: April 22, 2024Small city. I live in the center and I feel safe and secure being alone during the night and biking. Is very international and most of people are in their own bubble and in their own business. When men talked to me in certain moments during the night, around night clubs or so, I never felt uncomfortable or insecure. I have found the space to set up limits and respected.
Posted: March 30, 2024The Hague is generally very safe, but it depends on the neighbourhood. I wouldn't walk alone at night in certain neighbourhoods, but others are very safe at any time. The city center is relatively safe, as there is police there all the time. Overall, much safer than many other cities

The Hague is a fairly safe city who welcomes a lot of tourists. Especially in the center, Zeeheldenkwartier and the area of Scheveningen, where most tourists go, you don't have to worry a lot about your safety (use common sense of course). Like in every city, there are some sketchy neighbourhoods that feel less safe at night, but when you use common sense, listen to the locals in your hostel and try to be in a group, you will have a wonderful, safe stay in our city by the sea!
Posted: February 27, 2024I spent a week in The Hague last summer and I really liked it there. It's smaller and less crowded than Amsterdam, and cycling made me feel safe and comfortable (I was too nervous to try it on the day I was in Amsterdam).
Posted: September 12, 2023The Hague was my favorite city. Amazing art museums, shops, historical buildings, very diverse. Close to Scheveningen beach, which was really worth visiting. I had mixed feelings about safety in this place.
