Utrecht is a safe city, especially in the city center. Sexual harassment and inappropriate comments can happen but bigger clubs have people assigned to create safe environments or you can go to the personal and tell them when you are feeling unsafe. I feel safe going home at night by myself and do this often, but of course I will always be aware of my surroundings and I make sure I am always conscious. I’ve been lucky not to have experienced bad things, but that does not mean it cannot or does not happen.
Posted: March 16, 2025I live in a tiny village in the south of the Netherlands. My village is called Amstenrade. It's a very calm neighborhood with low crime rates. Personally, I feel safe while solo camping in my van in the Netherlands.
Posted: March 15, 2025Breda is a very safe city in the netherlands, its cosy and the people are very friendly and helpful. Public transport is accessible, streets are well lit and the clubs are well secured. Only bikes tend to get stolen so make sure you lock it well.
Posted: March 13, 2025I have lived in Leerdam my whole life. I know there are incidents sometimes, but I have personally never experienced anything bad happening in this town and neither have my friends. I have cycled home from the city centre many times at night and I have never had anything happen to me. I know bad things can happen, but I have never felt unsafe because of that. I would say the chances of getting in a car accident are greater than anything bigger than petty crimes happening here.

It depends highly on where you are in the Netherlands, but overal it is pretty save almost everywhere you go. However i would never go outside in the dark by myself if its not necessary, having experienced some weird things here myself.
Posted: March 12, 2025It is a very safe city to travel for woman, even when you are alone in the dark. The only thing that could happen is a group of boys call you but if you just ignore them and dont look at them its overall a very safe city. The centre is surrounded with culture and the nature is very nice
Posted: March 11, 2025I feel very safe here, but there are some areas that I would avoid alone at night... I'm also aware of some people having met bad ends, but nothing have ever scared me here personally. I feel safe riding my bike ans walking/running alone
Posted: March 10, 2025I have lived in Leiden for 6 months and never experienced safety issues! I feel safe at all time but never experienced that much walking alone at night. Basically, the transportation is bike which really avoids a lot of issues and contacts so I highly recommend!
Posted: March 8, 2025Utrecht is a city with a friendly and warm atmosphere. People are always willing to help you, everyone will be able to speak english. As in any city you should watch pickpockets, but very safe overall

I love Utrecht! My bike got stolen twice but the city centre is tidy and nice. A lot of nice cafés and also a big library where you can always use the bathroom. Nice parks, but be carefull in the night. They bike fast but that's ir : ). Recommend!

I was in Rotterdam in the Sommer and I felt really safe. City is really nice, but you can see most of it in one day. I went to the two hours cruse with boat , and I was disappointed. They show you just the Industry side of the city.
Posted: March 11, 2025Experienced: May, 2023We stayed in a bed and breakfast the food in the b&b wasn't That Good. For dinner we went to two different Italian restaurants and they were amazing. If you are planning to go to den Haag by car, don't! Its very expensive to park there. You can go to the beatch and go swimming. There are a few Museum witch are worth a visit (Museum Voorlinden). Or you can go to Duinrell.

Hi butterflies, I myself like to fly away to other places to meet other butterflies and beautiful people and their colors of traditions and cultures. But I also can really enjoy to stay in my cocoon and would love to welcome other butterflies and people, having a great time with them in my wonderful, social and green hometown. Even though I am born with a muscular disease and I am using a power wheelchair to move around, it absolutely doesn’t make me to stay in my cocoon all the time. On the contrary! I’m looking for the possibilities, and not the impossibilities. That’s my life motto! And independency with a physical disability is also a high priority in my undertaking life. :) Every year I’m making a trip to have a water sports holiday on a great lake (sailing, canoeing, rowing and even water skiing). When I’m in my hometown I love to be with my fellow butterfly friends to have a good fresh (vegetarian) meal and to enjoy their company. I can also really enjoy of the serenity of nature or writing my thoughts and feelings down on paper as poetry.
