I've been to Venice in February. It felt very safe and it was easy to get around on the water buses. I stayed in an AirBnB on the Grand Canal and the street it was on was always busy with lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants so it was easy to pop out for food at night time and sit in a cafe and watch the world go by. A great city to wander around.

Solo travel experience

I visited Venice alone and I didn't feel unsafe. I was never out really late but I didn't feel I needed to hurry back before dark. After dark, all the bridges and narrow alleys of Venice looked the same, so I used things as landmarks to make sure I was heading the right back - statues, shop window displays, etc.

The city on the water is very impressive and I've never seen anything like that before! There were SO MANY tourists. I've been there two days and on the second day I went off the main island and it felt much more authentic. I really recommended taking a swim in the sea and taking late evening public transportation boats.

Too crowded in summer, but the food and the architecture was worth visiting. Expensive but delicious food. Avoid visiting on Easter holidays, it eilld be different to move around due to lots of tourists.

I loved Venice. Stayed in a hostel in Venice Mestre (mainland Venice) and caught the train to St Lucia where the main part of Venice is. It was €2 each way, and I usually walked everywhere in Venice.

Family travel experience

We lived in an appartment which belonged to a friend of a friend so we didn't have to pay accomodation. We stayed away from the crowded streets and didn't even bother to go on the expensive gondolas. The absence of cars makes this city feel like an outer world, very peaceful. We visited the Biennale which was very interesting and the park was lovely. Overall I keep amazing memories, and the sunsets were beautiful

I visited Venice during the carnival festival with friends. The city is very elegant with a vibrant vibe in its surroundings. Those canals and boat rides are dreamy. The masked festive locals are extremely friendly and add spark to the moment. The local desert castagnole is delicious. I recommend visiting Venice and experience it's vibe, if during the carnival time it will be even better. Beware of the crowds🤞.

Venice is just so pretty. The surrounding islands like Burano are so colorful and dreamy. I was there for a weekend and it was so relaxing. I loved it. One tip for solo travellers: Don't be alone very late in the city alleys because you might get lost.

Solo travel experience

I highly recommend going to Burano and Murano islands. Burano is an island with lots of colorful buildings. It’s famous for its traditional handmade lace. When you’re in Venice walk in the opposite direction to all the tourists. Aqua Alta Libreria bookshop is also worth a visit. I stayed in Venezia Mestra (the mainland part of Venice). It’s a lot cheaper than staying in Venice itself. I also recommend doing a walking history tour of Venice. It was quite interesting. As for food look for little alleyways and squared away from the tourist areas. You get more local and authentic foods there. I didn’t find it too difficult to navigate my way around Venice. There are painted signs on the wall to some of the bigger attractions like San Marco Square and Rialto Bridge. It takes about 30-40 minutes to walk from one side of the island to the next though there are lots of water taxis (though quite expensive). It’s cheaper to take a Vaporetto.

Couple travel experience

Venice is a city full of History, where you can visit anothers centuries through its heritage monuments. It's very beautiful and quiet off-season. I really recommand you this city, and if you like Modern Art, go to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, a really cute and quiet place.

Hi everyone. I’m heading to Venice tomorrow and I have 3 full days there. What are some of your favourite or must-do things in Venice? I’m planning on going to Murano & Burano, St Mark’s Basilica and the Liberia Aqau Alta. Also do you have any tips on how now to get lost
