I solo travelled to Venice (F28) and it was one of the best weeks of my life! I stayed at Anda Hostel in Mestre which was very clean and had a mini club downstairs, plus it’s only a couple of minutes onto the island from there. The only issue is that it can be a bit noisy sometimes. There are so many beautiful sites to see, boat trips to do and history to take in, everywhere you walk feels like a storybook. (Or that episode of Doctor Who). I was slightly disappointed with the food in Venice but it was alright. Very easy to do day trips to places like Bologna and Florence too.

I absolutely loved Venice, it’s like an amazing maze everywhere! I got asked on dates whilest at dinner with my family multiple times, but overall it’s very expensive but I felt save, it’s beautiful and it’s worth going.
Posted: June 2, 2025Being in a group made me feel more safe and comfortable in a different country. It’s just so much fun to spend time with your friends but not in a basic, every day way. And if u get lost, at least u are together.
Posted: May 12, 2025Experienced: February, 2025Felt Safe all around but in some very busy streets there are people to tell you that you should wear your bag in front of you. We did Drive with a Bus After 10pm and we didn’t feel unsafe. But maybe it depends on the Part of Venice were you are.

First of all, Venice is pretty expensive, if you want to visit the city, it's better to book an hotel at Mestre and take the train or the bus to go to the city (from Mestre centro to piazzale Roma, it's about 20 min I would say). One bus ticket is 1,70€ if I remember well, and the train is around 1,45€. And if you book an hotel at Lido, be ready to spend money with the waterbus ! Lido is cool (beach, kind people, chill...), but pay 9,50€ a single waterbus ticket is expensive. For example, a day ticket is 20€ and a week ticket is 65€ (it works for both bus and vaporetto). To visit, i would say the Ghetto, Tre Archi, Giardini Biennale and the neighborhood around. I never went to Murano and Burano, but it's a need to visit these islands. At Lido, the neighborhood of Malamocco is bellissimo, there's Chioggia too, both are an old Venice less touristic. At Venice, there's a Conad (supermarket) in an old theater. While being at Venice, try the Spritz with Aperol or Select (Aperol is from Padova and Select is the real and tastiest one (it's bitter) which comes from Venice.) The price of Spritz is way cheaper on Venice than anywhere else in Italy. At Mestre, you don't feel this safe, especially at Mestre centro or the trainstation, where there are maranza (weirdos), but at Venice, it's way different ! Like, at night, i feel good while walking alone, i'm just afraid that some men could follow me (I look behind me even where I live, it's just a "habit").

Walking in the dark feels quite safe, it is better if you go straight and quick to your destination I think. Same as for pickpockets, there are many but they do not at all try with people that have a purposeful walking
Posted: June 25, 2025It's too popular a tourist destination. I don't think it's not safe here, because there are police and quite a lot of people. But you should keep an eye on your belongings very carefully. I would choose to live not in the city itself, but at some short distance from it to feel safer
