Perugia is a safe city also during night, but to prevent bad or uncomfortable situations I do not recommend walking alone at night. However it’s a vibrant city during the weekend due to the multiple students that are living in it.

If you’re staying in, or want to visit, the city centre you shouldn’t be worried. The daylife is pretty calm, you can go visit museums, pretty cool buildings all around you, people are pretty chill (the worst but also best thing that could happen to you during the day is finding residents and students protesting against turist taking up too much space - ex. houses transformed into airbnbs, stupid chocolate festival). We can say the centre is pretty safe because of the amount of tourists that pass through it. The nightlife is more agitated, but again if you staying on top of the hill (you will find out when you arrive on top) you’re pretty safe. You could encounter some problems getting progressively down the hill. Going down, in order we can find: -the bus station, not the worst place, there are cameras, but during the night is mostly empty and scary (also the park behind it is not the safest option during the night - unless you are there for the stupid jazz festival) - a pretty big residential area, it’s chill, i wouldn’t suggest to go there just because there is nothing to see frfr - fontivegge and the train station (i know there are worst places around Perugia than this one okay), you shouldn’t freak out but i suggest you stay here for the less amount of time possible, watch out for robbers and if you have to wait just stay inside the train station where the ticket office is
Posted: January 27, 2025Perugia is a relatively safe city located in the central area of Italy. It's full of university students living here from abroad. It's a small city, and the crime rate is lower than in other Italian cities due to its size.
Posted: December 31, 2024It's pretty safe, but I wouldn't walk alone when it's dark, some of my friends do it and nothing happened to them. I just personally would always walk with someone, you never know who you are going to meet.

Hi I'm Ilaria, an Italian student who lives in Perugia where I study science education. I'd love to start traveling and volunteering.

I’m beatrice, I’m studying motor science at the university of Perugia, where I’m living as an offside student. After height school I took a gap year in witch I did a course as a bartender, and a photographer; I did babysitting and I helped a skipper for a trip to the Eolie island for a month. I like singing, indeed I’m in the choir of Perugia university; I like sailing, writing and reading.
