Hi, I have travelled to Milan a few times. The city felt quite safe. Places I visited was duomo, navigli, churches, hotels. The Bvulgari hotel was nice. Art museums and shops. I basically went there to meet friends nice to relax by the river, there is dancing, food and drinks. Very sociable

I felt very safe in Milan. I got around by public transport, which was easy and safe. If you don't want to stand in line for hours to get in the Dome, just wait for a mass and walk in for free. You can't take photos thou. Being a low budget traveller, I didn't go out, but cooked for my dear hosts and had lovely time with them ☺ I found that people are very friendly and helpful in Milan.

I felt safe most of the time as we were a group, it’s not my first time in Milan so I knew what areas to avoid at night, there was lots to see and do. It’s a great vacation for a group of friends as it’s a versatile city. I loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the evenings as well

It was my first time in Europe and i enjoyed it very much, went to Milan Italy and Barcelona Spain. I was paranoid at first because i was warned that there was a lot of pickpockets in the city, fortunately didn’t happen to me. Thank goodness. Over all i felt safe in milan and barcelona. So girls, try it. I love barcelona. Very relaxed and walkable city.
Posted: June 6, 2024Experienced: June, 2024Milan is a safe city for travelers, with efficient public transport and plenty to see. Beware of pickpockets in tourist areas. Enjoy landmarks like the Duomo, La Scala, and its vibrant fashion and culinary scenes.
Posted: May 15, 2024Experienced: September, 2022Milan was my first solo journey, I didn't speak Italian, and I had never been to Italy before. I often got lost, but always found a place to eat. I felt very safe in this city and would recommend it to any woman wanting to explore and eat amazing food. The city gave me a lot of confidence and reminded me that I could face this world alone.
Posted: January 18, 2024I stayed in Milan for 3 days alone in November and I really enjoyed it there. I walked or took the subway everywhere and felt safe all the time. However, I did not go out at night, so I am not sure how safe it is there after dark, but other than that, I would recommend this place. Beautiful architecture and a lot to see.
Posted: December 3, 2023I spent 2 days in Milan and felt really safe. The city is very vibrant, even at night. It's really easy to get around using public transportation. I had a hotel near the central station and I never used a taxi. It was truly a wonderful time.
Posted: October 20, 2023My first solo trip was to Milan and I absolutely loved it. I spent there 3 days, one day I went on a trip to Lake Como, and the next to Turin. I felt safe and didn't have any problems. Language was not a problem, I mainly communicated in English and understood Italian.

Milan is a pretty safe city during the day and I would go everywhere alone in any area of the city, however I wouldn’t go out alone after dark especially in the center. There are also areas such as Milano Centrale where is good to pay attention to your belongings also during the day and in general keep an eye on your bag in all public transportation like in any big city. In Milan, I have experienced catcalling frequently and I got used to it at some point, and I was followed or approached by people as a teenager when I used to live there a couple of times, so don’t be nice or smile to men you don’t know.
Posted: July 23, 2024For (awful) cultural reason, harassment and cat calling can be more frequent than in other counties in Europe. The metro and the trams are safe, do NOT take the bus (90,91,92,93) at night after dinner. During the day, pay attention to your bags (there are lots of pickpockets in the public transportation and in the touristic areas. Porta Romana is a safe, cute zone with lot of nice bars. Also Argonne/Susa is becoming more and more popular (but in a safe way), if you want to stay close to the city center but spend a little less.

The experiencd itself was average, sadly because of the plan that the group made, or lack thereof. But the city was lovely, albeit crowded. We went to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery and though it was perfectly beautiful, the extreme amount of people there would not let me enjoy it. Or have breakfast in a reasonable time, since one had to make a long line for each item to buy or to even get in. The cathedral on the other hand is certaiy worth the wait and the hype. Liky because the amount of people inside is controllled. Suggest to buy your tickets in advance from their website and to make it early. If you are a catholic check their mass times and attend to those instead of buying tour ticket.
Posted: July 4, 2024My family and I visited Milan. Great shopping and the Duomo is a must-see. We visited the Duomo inside and also walked up the stairs to the beautiful "terrazze", that is the rooftop with hundreds of statues. Nearby Milan, there are several adventures parks (parco avventura). With zip lines and trees to climb. Lots of fun for kids and adults!

I love travelling and discovering the world and its people. I'm curious about culture. As a photographer, I really enjoy capturing certain moments in life and certain places.

Hi👋 I'm Merry, I can give you tips for interesting places to visit or were to find local events for cheap/ free. We can go sailing, but we have to share cost of renting a boat 😉 (splitting around 50€) and meet up.
