Is Australia safe for solo female travelers?

Australia is generally safe for solo female travelers. The country employs strict law enforcement and locals are known for their friendly attitude towards tourists. However, like any other place, certain common-sense precautions need to be taken, especially at night, such as not walking alone in deserted areas or parks. Wildlife encounters can also pose a threat since Australia is home to some of the world's most poisonous animals. Overall, with a bit of planning and vigilance, it can be a fantastic and safe destination for solo female travelers.

Australia, Solo travel

After I finished school I went to Australia and started working in many different places. I met so many good people and had an amazing time 🤩 I lived in my van for 14 months to save accommodation costs and I always think back on that time with big greatfullness!

Brisbane, Group travel

Brisbane was a fun city. There for 4 days and got to experience some of the wildlife they have and explore the city. Night life is really active. People were mildly friendly. Cleanliness was not bad but not great. Food options were endless. Shopping was top tier. Prices were not great. Ubers were expensiiivvveee.

Melbourne, Solo travel

Melb is so great for thrifting and food! But it’s expensive! Very cute trams im obsessed with. Easy to get around. I wish there was more transport outside of Melbourne city like to more of the beaches and lookouts, however I need to go back over and over again. Only felt really safe in the busy parts of the area and CBD and not late at night of course girlies.

Sydney

I feel very safe here in the morning and at night as a female walking around and using public transport frequently. Sydney is known for its lack of break ins, people often leave their cars unlocked! :)

Lots of crackheads but if you walk with confidence no one will try you. An Indian guy was yelling harassing obviouskt underage girls to come into his small business, I chased him back inside shouting to leave us women alone. It worked, he leaves us alone. Most men are cowards at the end of it.

Hindmarsh Island

Hindmarsh Island is quiet, calm, occupied by attentive semi-retirees, holiday home owners and families. It is a much older demographic and quite insular so tends to be very sedate. Crime is low. I’ve lived here a decade and feel safe often.
