Perth is quite safe in most areas. It can be a little sketchy in the city, Northbridge, and Fremantle on weekend nights but even then there’s plenty of police and security around. I wouldn’t recommend staying in places like Midland and Ellenbrook because that can be a little sketchy but it’s not likely visitors would go to visit those areas anyway.
Posted: May 19, 2025I’ve lived in Perth for my whole life and very minimal bad things have happened to me here before. Overall i think it’s very safe, minus the very occasional negative experience that is hard to avoid all together no matter where you are.
Posted: May 6, 2025I think people are really kind so they will help you if something happens. But it is still a big city. When its dark and there are only men I am worried and afraid if beeing alone. I think bad stuff is happening everywhere so its not about the city. But Perth does have a little wiered vibe to be honest. Anyway, I still like it.
Posted: April 3, 2025Overall, Perth is generally safe. There are areas where you would want to avoid at night because of colourful people but that isn't special to Perth. Awareness and caution are always important even in the safest cities and Perth is no exception.

I lived in Perth for about 1.5 years and I still regret not traveling around Australia. Perth is very calm and is frequented by many international students. If you like nightlife, Perth might not be for you. There are many daytime activities and during public holidays, but except for the Northbridge area, many places close early in the evening. During the day, I always felt safe; the Aboriginal people, except for the noise they made, are harmless. But at night you have to be careful, it's better not to walk around alone in the evening, especially in less frequented areas. We lived in a car for about 8 months, with about a month spent sleeping in public areas. Besides being illegal, I advise against sleeping in open areas. Only three times did anyone knock on our door, two of which were police 😅 but the third time was quite scary.

Hey girls I'm Tully! A 21 year old Australian 🇦🇺 who has been living in France the last year. I am pretty sociable and love meeting new people during my travels. I love to paint, draw, learn languages and gym. As my studies abroad finish up I'm looking for a beautiful way to explore a bit of France and meet some lovely new people before J head home ❤️.
