I’ve always felt safe as a woman on the Gold Coast—whether walking my dog, heading to the beach, or using public transport. The areas I frequent, like Burleigh and Broadbeach, are well-lit and usually busy enough to feel comfortable, even in the evenings. I still take the usual precautions, but overall it’s been a really positive experience.

Would say in general it’s a safe place but certain areas like the party strip in Surfers can feel more unsafe at night particularly around the early hours of the morning. But general busy areas like pacific fair, Robina town centre, the casino etc. feel safe as a woman. Sometimes train stations can have the odd strange person that could make you uncomfortable but best to keep distance and avoid speaking to them and you’re fine.
Posted: February 9, 2025Gold Coast is really safe. I've been living here for the last seven years and I never had any issues. It's a beautiful and safe city for women to feel secure when walking alone, especially at night time.
Posted: February 2, 2025The gold coast whilst being a famous tourist destinations houses a lot of people under the influence of drugs, as well as many homeless people which can cause a safety concern for people, especially women

Gold Coast is very safe for women!! But unfortunately like anywhere as a woman you should always be cautious and careful, the only negative experiences I have had have surrounded catcalling or verbal assault and this is generally very late at night by people who are intoxicated. I didn’t feel threatened though and there is always help around if you need it

I solo travelled to the Gold Coast alone for 10 months. It is a place I love so much and really enjoyed. I never felt unsafe there. Never had problems walking around alone at night, although it’s something I don’t recommend. People there are very friendly and easy to come in contact with. Going to the beach is a must! Burleigh beach, Tallebudgera Creek and Rainbow bay are my favorites! Watching the sunsets and sunrises while sitting at the beach is just incredible. For food I recommend Paddock’s bakery and Helen’s Heavenly Wholefoods cafe for the best açaí bowls! To get around buses work great, get a go kart as soon as you get there. Safe travels❤️!
