Sydney and most of Australia is one of the safest places to live in. I have never been worried about walking home alone or walking out at night. A lot of people keep their houses unlocked as they're not worried about break ins.

It’s moreso just a matter of being aware of your surroundings and choosing activities based on your location. At my home in loftus I feel safe being out after dark, but there are definitely some suburbs in the shire or in the city where I would not feel as comfortable doing that. I don’t love being on the trains alone after dark but have not personally had any issues

The highly populated areas are safe, most people who are ‘danger’ are usually easily identifiable (on drugs) and therefore avoidable. Some train lines can be worse than others however I have not experienced this
Posted: December 31, 2024Sydney is a very safe city but i wouldn’t say that it is 100% safe. Bad things could still happen but it’s not common. Nothing has ever happened to me personally, apart from some unwanted attention from a guy that looked very creepy. I have heard of spiking and forms of sexual harassment but overall it really depends on where you go and how safe you’re trying to be. If you travel here responsibly and smartly you’ll be fine. We have very nice beaches lovely restaurants and cafes.
Posted: December 29, 2024A very safe city. Some areas can be considered a bit unsafe around the CBD area, especially at night. Walking around during the day is lovely and there is rarely anything bad that occurs. A great place to solo travel as a female
Posted: December 11, 2024Sydney is safe, however you stay need to make sure your safe. You never know being a woman. There is always risks. Can't be too safe..however always tell someone where you go. Don't go out west like blacktown, that is a dodgy area.
Posted: December 4, 2024Extremely safe, I've walked the streets at 3am in the city & whilst lighting could be better, I haven't had any problems with running into safety concerns. There's also almost always a police station near by.

Sydney is a very clean and safe city. I'm staying in Cronulla, aka The Shire and it's a great place to stay. There is a super clean beach, public transport and shops, supermarkets and cafes. I walk alone at night with no problem at all

In terms of security Sydney is an amazing place to live because I feel free to leave my home it doesn’t matter the time also in the dark. But as a woman we always need to double pay attention everywhere.

I'm currently living in a suburb north of Sydney surrounded by horses. I feel 100% safe day and night. Sydney is a big city, and the streets are often crowded, so there's nothing to worry about. Australia in general is a very safe country !

Loved Sydney. Although it was very busy!! Felt safe the city was just a bit congested. They had lots to do there and they had many food cuisine’s from around the world to eat !! I felt pretty safe and their was many chill activities to do. The beaches and weather were great 🤍

If you are in Sydney in October you need to go see the whales, it is such an amazing experience! You can go to the Harbour and buy a ticket and go alone without any problem. Also don’t miss out on all the beaches Sydney has to offer (Bondi, Bronte, Coogee, Tamarama, Manly, etc). The beaches are also very safe but swim between the flags!!

Hey I'm Vanessa from Australia :) I live in a van and like to spend time outdoors whenever I can. During my free time, I like to climb, slackline and learn about different cultures & languages. I'm neurodivergent and travel, culture, languages is my special interest hehe I've been very lucky to have the privilege to be able to go backpacking, go on working holidays and what not. I've met sooo many amazing people around the world, and got to go hitchhike, couchsurf and go on all kinds of wacky adventures. I really love the concept of couch surfing and am so excited for one that specifically caters to women!! I'd really love to give back to the community ! If you come to Oz, I'd love to host, but I can really only provide you a hammock since I've got limited space in the van. So I probably won't be a good host unless you're into camping haha otherwise, I'd love to meet up and show you around :)
