Safety:

Safety:Very safe

Isle of Skye is generally considered safe for solo female travelers. Crime rate is low and locals are typically hospitable. Like all travel destinations, it's still important to exercise general safety precautions, such as staying in well-lit areas at night, keeping track of your belongings, and informing someone reliable about your travel itinerary. Public transport is reliable and widely available, all adding to the overall safety feeling. Nevertheless, the island's popularity among tourists enhances its safety, as it is generally very busy, especially during peak seasons.

Isle of Skye is excellent and beautiful. Make sure to keep minimum 2-3 days for it as it’s huge and lots to cover. I feel the biggest mistake people make, which included me, is to give lesser days. The weather is also unpredictable and rain can delay your plans. Best to travel around by renting a car.

Solo travel experience

I stayed at The Old Inn in Carbost which was a delight. They have two styles of accommodation: B&B and hostel (bunkhouse). They have a great pub and reastaurant with vegan and vegetarian options, a beautiful patio on the shores of Loch Harport with an enchanting view of The Cullins, and great characters as the locals roll in throughout the day. And they bring their dogs! Talisker Distillery is a 5-minute walk away if you want to do a tour (I highly recommend). I did B&B accommodation and had a moderate budget. Prices for the B&B range from £80-140/night depending on the time of year, and the Bunkhouse rates range from £25-40 a bed per night. There's nothing and nowhere I would recommend not going. But if I had to choose a must do, it would be the lighthouse hike at Neist Point. It is totally worth it for sunset, and even if you don't make it all the way out, the view is phenomenal. It can take a while to drive there, and the hike isn't bad, but it's about 45 minutes. Skye is a beautiful island with gorgeous natural views. I felt absolutely safe the entire time, and the locals were so friendly and welcoming. Rent a vehicle so you have the flexibilty to go anywhere at your own schedule, but don't overplan as it's so easy to lose track of time while driving around and exploring. Pack good hiking shoes; between the Fairy Glen and the Fairy Pools, the remote old castles and lighthouse structures, and all the munros in between, walking is the best way to explore. It's an island, and it's best explored on island time. If you make reservations or have hard set times for anything, give yourself an hour buffer if you're across the island. And bring a dashcam.... trust me.

The isle of Skye was amazing ! I traveled with one female friend and we were sleeping in the car :) It is easy to find a spot where you can stay for the night in Scotland and it is free most of the time. We hiked a lot and there is a lot of beautiful landscapes to see ! People are nice and we felt really safe everywhere in Scotland 🤗 On Isle of Skye, we did the fairy pools, the Quiraing and Portree. I recommend
