Edmonton is a nice city. It has the river valley, which is by far my favourite aspect of Edmonton. It also has West Edmonton Mall, which is a man awesome experience when visiting as a tourist. It has a waterpark, amusement park, ice rink, arcade, movie theatre, marine centre, go-carts, bowling, casino, hotel, etc. The biggest issue with Edmonton currently is the crime, especially on public transport. During busy hours you should be fine, but drug use and homelessness is a huge problem at ETS stations, LRT train cars, and around most malls in the city.

Edmonton is quite safe as long as you take more measures to avoid bad areas of the city. I have never felt unsafe walking alone or riding public transit. The only time I have experienced a bad situation with men was when I used dating apps. Otherwise I feel very safe in public and even crowds.
Posted: December 31, 2024Edmonton is a very safe place overall. It is best to be cautious and aware of your surroundings, as crimes do happen. Certain areas, such as downtown and 118th avenue are notorious for crime. Other areas are very safe, areas that are often consequently less accessible by public transit. A lot of criminals are released here from all over Canada after serving their time. A lot of people have drug issues here. Overall though, most of the people are very nice, friendly, and helpful.
