Edmonton, is overall fairly safe at night. There is the presence of regular police patrols, especially in busy areas. The downtown districts and tourist areas have good lighting and generally well-populated. While walking alone at night is relatively safe, as with any city, it is advisable to be cautious. It's better to stick to well-lit areas, avoid quieter, desolate spots, and always be aware of your surroundings. Crime rates are moderate, but they are usually targeted and not randomly dispersed. Sticking to these general safety tips should enable you to have a trouble-free stay.

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Edmonton is primarily reliable and safe. Like anywhere else, vigilance is important, especially at night. Edmonton Transit Service is equipped with security features like surveillance cameras. However, isolated incidents do sometimes occur. It is recommended to use the transit app and plan your journey well.

Is Edmonton worth visiting?

Solo travel

Edmonton is a nice city. It has the river valley, which is by far my favourite aspect of Edmonton. It also has West Edmonton Mall, which is a man awesome experience when visiting as a tourist. It has a waterpark, amusement park, ice rink, arcade, movie theatre, marine centre, go-carts, bowling, casino, hotel, etc. The biggest issue with Edmonton currently is the crime, especially on public transport. During busy hours you should be fine, but drug use and homelessness is a huge problem at ETS stations, LRT train cars, and around most malls in the city.

Edmonton is relatively safe depending on the area you are in. It’s important to take precautions when travelling alone anywhere but I definitely don’t go out fearing for my life. It’s just important to be aware of your surroundings. I wouldn’t walk alone at night but I wouldn’t really do that anywhere else anyway.

It's good to exercise caution in downtown Edmonton, and in any of the malls. Overall if you are in a group it's a lot safer. But be carefully at night as there is a lot of homeless and drunk people on the streets.
