Is North America Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

North Americatypically, offers a safe environment for solo female travelers. Most cities and towns prioritize public safety and have dependable law enforcement. However, like any other place, it has areas where caution is advised. Both urban regions and rural areas are generally safe, though it is key to stay vigilant, especially at night. It is quite safe to utilize various modes of transport like buses, taxis, and trains. But again, it's important to maintain personal precautions, like not sharing your personal information with strangers. There is also usually good access to medical facilities. With appropriate planning and alertness, women can feel comfortable and secure while traveling alone in this region.

About me

I'm a 50 year-old homeowner in Minneapolis who loves to travel, experience local culture, see live music, wander museums, watch films, eat good food, play board games, and geek out at fan conventions. A city person who enjoys urban gardening, I also like to visit the great outdoors in short stints knowing that I have a real mattress waiting for me at the end of the day. Unmarried, doting auntie to three young women and active in my local community. Looking to meet new people near and far willing to swap hosted space in our home cities. Bonus points if you want to hang out and explore together.

About me

Hi 👋 I’m Emily, someone equal parts whimsical and practical. I love spending time outdoors, and I’ve probably tried every hobby at least once! I’ve traveled extensively within the U.S. (and lived and worked in NC, CA, AK, and HI) and am eager to do more international travel. I’ve been to Iceland, Australia, and several places in the Caribbean, but I really want to go everywhere! I formerly worked in the scuba industry and outdoor education, now I work in IT. I’m able to work remotely within the U.S., so I hope to knock out my goal of finding a geocache in all 50 states by the end of 2027! I live in beautiful Hendersonville, NC. It’s a popular tourist destination for the region, and is close to beautiful hikes and waterfalls. I live on the Ecusta greenway, which is walkable and bikeable to downtown Hendersonville, and lots of coffee shops and breweries! I grew up in the area and love being a tour guide for visitors - the Appalachians have a lot to offer, and there’s so much culture here!
