Modern and clean city with plenty to do during the Summer. Lots of events, concerts, festivals going on for the whole period. Large cosmopolitan city so it's easy to meet people or travel buddies, if you're open to it. Had the most wonderful meal at Alo Bar. Love the amount of ice cream shops too.

I have traveled to Toronto 3 times recently, solo and with a friend. Most recently was for Caribana, celebrating Caribbean culture. There were many events taking place. Though I am not Caribbean, it was open to everyone. Driving in city wasn't too bad, though I am not used to street cars or light rails. Felt very safe and very diverse. Food was good. Didn't have too much Canadian only food but the Beaver Tails. Night life was great!
Posted: October 17, 2025Toronto has improved tremendously over the last years! The food scene and club scene have both expended with nice, trendy and upscale spots to rediscover. As for safety, there is an homeless situation going on downtown, so I would just avoid that area after dark. Otherwise? Completely safe. As for budget, there is something for every price point - you just gotta research a bit of everything online and be willing to explore according to what you’re looking for. Great city for a quick weekend reset, with a good balance of things to do. The aquarium is a must.

Hotels and airbnb can be quite expensive. Groceries aren’t cheap either but going out to eat is reasonably priced. Lots of homeless people!! They seem to mostly mind their own business but it felt pretty unsafe. Some parks are completely taken over by homeless camps. They also can come up to you to ask for money or food. Sometimes I buy them something, adding more to the travel costs. Avoid routes coming past homeless shelters to avoid seeing them. Little Italy is a nice place to stay. Kensington Market is cute to visit for cafes, thrift shopping and music.

Toronto is chaotic. I did use the GO system that took me into Union station. From there you get shoved and pushed around, no one to ask for directions or how to connect to a train or bus. Decided to take Lyft for a bite to eat near where I was visiting - the driver was very nice and there was many food options

Downtown Toronto is pretty safe, except because sometimes could be a lot of crazy people out there. But in general, been on the street after hours, use the transport system is safe. The clue is, if you don't bother anyone, no one will bother you
Posted: August 12, 2025Very safe especially for solo female travellers. I often make my way home at night alone and go for walks in the dark. You may encounter some homeless but violent crime is of very little concern. I would recommend this as a destination.

Posted: July 23, 2025Toronto is the kind of place you can walk around at 4 am by yourself in heels and the most that will happen is you’ll see a crackhead screaming incoherently in a parking lot across the street from you

I visited Toronto for 4 days with a friend. We walked around even at night, and I didn’t feel unsafe. I wouldn’t say I felt scared, but if I were alone, I’d probably feel more anxious, especially in unfamiliar areas
