I cannot say this is an exciting city. Even though it’s the biggest city in Canada, it feels like a small city with not so much sights to see. Things are expensive, so be prepared to spend a lot. The diversity and authenticity in different foods are great. People here seem unhappy. Safety-wise, it’s okay. I wouldn’t walk around alone late at night.
Posted: February 8, 2026Toronto is such a beautiful city with an amazing atmosphere! I stayed with family in Rosedale during July and the weather was incredible. I never once felt unsafe during my visit, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming!

Modern and clean city with plenty to do during the Summer. Lots of events, concerts, festivals going on for the whole period. Large cosmopolitan city so it's easy to meet people or travel buddies, if you're open to it. Had the most wonderful meal at Alo Bar. Love the amount of ice cream shops too.

I have traveled to Toronto 3 times recently, solo and with a friend. Most recently was for Caribana, celebrating Caribbean culture. There were many events taking place. Though I am not Caribbean, it was open to everyone. Driving in city wasn't too bad, though I am not used to street cars or light rails. Felt very safe and very diverse. Food was good. Didn't have too much Canadian only food but the Beaver Tails. Night life was great!

Avoid any crackheads or homeless, keep distance between yourself and them. Change the road if you can. Don’t wear headphones in public, be aware of your surroundings. Pepper spray not illegal however you can have coyote/dog spray for alternative
Posted: April 23, 2026I find myself feeling very safe in Toronto, especially during the day. There are always people around and I have very rarely felt unsafe. At night, it can be a little more intimidating. But overall I have been ok by myself walking from the metro in my neighborhood just outside the city. I am a tall woman though so this may impact how I feel and are perceived.

I usually feel pretty safe in Toronto. As with any big city you need to be aware of your surroundings but I’m not normally worried about pickpockets, mostly just cautious of the homeless people. Some of them can be irritable/aggressive so it’s best to avoid them if possible. I find a very safe area is where I live which is on Queens Quay (the waterfront). This is the only area in the city I’m comfortable walking alone at night with headphones in.
Posted: March 11, 2026Very safe as long as you practice common sense and don’t do stupid stuff. I used to walk alone at night at 2am downtown no issues. Just avoid the known rougher areas at night (Moss park downtown, Jane/Finch uptown, etc).
