Areas outside of the downtown core are generally safe. There is a homeless and drug crisis in Edmonton within the downtown and whyte ave communities. During the day downtown is generally safe but random attacks have been happening lately at night downtown as well as on rubric transit

I studied here and never felt unsafe. I used public transit alone at night and never felt I wasn’t safe. There are some areas I wouldn’t go to downtown by myself at night, but that goes anywhere I think!
Posted: June 23, 2024Edmonton is very safe during the day and for the most part. However, there is a moderate issue with the homeless population at night in certain parts of the city — mostly around downtown near train/subway station areas and sometimes in areas near the University campus (although they have increased security). It isn’t an issue during time when it’s more busy, but if you decide to talk public transportation late at night make sure you are aware of your surroundings.

Completely depends on the area, as a masculine presenting woman, I don't really get bothered by men much. There are homeless folks downtown, some under the influence, they might ask for smokes or money but generally pretty harmless.
Posted: March 4, 2024Edmonton is a nice city. It has the river valley, which is by far my favourite aspect of Edmonton. It also has West Edmonton Mall, which is a man awesome experience when visiting as a tourist. It has a waterpark, amusement park, ice rink, arcade, movie theatre, marine centre, go-carts, bowling, casino, hotel, etc. The biggest issue with Edmonton currently is the crime, especially on public transport. During busy hours you should be fine, but drug use and homelessness is a huge problem at ETS stations, LRT train cars, and around most malls in the city.
