I live in a quiet residential neighborhood far from downtown edmonton, and I feel very safe here. even when I’ve spent time in the city center during the day or walked around busy areas in the evening, I’ve always felt comfortable and safe. just staying aware of my surroundings, as anywhere

I wouldn't walk alone after dark in many areas in Edmonton, and i would be careful with leaving drinks unattended at bars. I have been sexually harassed, (minorly) sexually assaulted, and followed by predators many times in the whyte ave/downtown areas. I have also been sexually harassed by uber drivers in Edmonton. Luckily i know the city very well and have lots of friends and family here, and there are usually bystanders that will come help if they notice any trouble.

Edmonton is relatively safe depending on the area you are in. It’s important to take precautions when travelling alone anywhere but I definitely don’t go out fearing for my life. It’s just important to be aware of your surroundings. I wouldn’t walk alone at night but I wouldn’t really do that anywhere else anyway.

It's good to exercise caution in downtown Edmonton, and in any of the malls. Overall if you are in a group it's a lot safer. But be carefully at night as there is a lot of homeless and drunk people on the streets.

Edmonton is like any big city, be smart and aware. Homeless population can be a bit of a problem but if you don’t interact with them ur usually safe. Going out at night is pretty safe of course be smart and watch ur drink.
Posted: February 23, 2025Edmonton is quite safe as long as you take more measures to avoid bad areas of the city. I have never felt unsafe walking alone or riding public transit. The only time I have experienced a bad situation with men was when I used dating apps. Otherwise I feel very safe in public and even crowds.
Posted: December 31, 2024Edmonton is a nice city. It has the river valley, which is by far my favourite aspect of Edmonton. It also has West Edmonton Mall, which is a man awesome experience when visiting as a tourist. It has a waterpark, amusement park, ice rink, arcade, movie theatre, marine centre, go-carts, bowling, casino, hotel, etc. The biggest issue with Edmonton currently is the crime, especially on public transport. During busy hours you should be fine, but drug use and homelessness is a huge problem at ETS stations, LRT train cars, and around most malls in the city.
