Favorite parts: Taking a sea plane to Victoria Whale watching Hiking up Grouse Mountain Oysters Short trip up to Whistler for an overnight stay & hiking (summer) Kayaking from Granville Island Tequila bar next to hostel (Samesun on Granville Street) I felt super safe the whole time. I avoided the areas that were recommended at that time due to high homeless population/drugs. I did have one homeless woman nicely ask me for money and I actually didn’t have any CAD and then she flipped and started yelling at me but it was during the day in a very populated area.

I traveled solo to Canada and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I spent three months between Edmonton, Banff, and Calgary, and honestly… the landscapes completely blew my mind. Everything feels so safe — there’s literally no sense of insecurity, even when you’re on your own. And the best part is that I didn’t even pay for accommodation, because I was doing volunteer house-sitting and pet-sitting. Banff especially was magical. Canada is definitely a place I’d go back to a thousand times
Posted: December 1, 2025Toronto is such a beautiful city with an amazing atmosphere! I stayed with family in Rosedale during July and the weather was incredible. I never once felt unsafe during my visit, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming!

Canada
Modern and clean city with plenty to do during the Summer. Lots of events, concerts, festivals going on for the whole period. Large cosmopolitan city so it's easy to meet people or travel buddies, if you're open to it. Had the most wonderful meal at Alo Bar. Love the amount of ice cream shops too.

Jonquière is very calm and safe. Traveling by car or public transportation poses no problems and is completely secure. Walking is possible, though distances can be a bit longer, but there is no significant danger. The downtown area of the neighboring city (Chicoutimi) is slightly busier, but it is still a pleasant and frequented environment with no major safety concerns.
Posted: February 1, 2026It’s okay if you mind your business and stay away from run down areas in the dark. It’s a decent city for Ontario. I would stay cautious from downtown and adjacent areas at night, at least bring a friend.
Posted: January 31, 2026never did i ever have a bad unsafe experience here. i also actively avoided dark alleyways cause in the past few months, there have been people under the influence there but they’ve never really hurt anyone else. i was in a club once, the men will stare though.
Posted: January 30, 2026I’d avoid the hot neighbourhoods (St-Michel, Hochelaga, some areas in downtown Montreal) at night. Some homeless people can be very insisting and pushy and you might want to watch out for that. I wouldn’t suggest taking the metro alone after midnight.

Calgary is very safe. I walk alone at night as a woman and never have fear. You will rarely hear of any crime. There might be theft if you left your things out, but more likely it will be returned to you.

I enjoy both relaxing beach trips and discovering places rich in history. Museums, churches, impressive architecture, beautiful views, and great food are must-haves for me. When I travel, I really like to experience a place—discovering the local culture and taking the time to observe and understand. I’m here to share meaningful travel experiences, with respect and good vibes!

Indigenous to the Great Lakes of North America. Bear Clan. Thunderbird Clan. Nokomis / Grandmother. My Ancestors are from the Odewa Nation (people of the heart aka Ottawa like Canada’s capital), Ojibwe Nation, Potawatomi Nation. My first language is Odewa & Ojibwe & Potawatomi. Daughter of an Indian Residential School survivor. The ripple effect was genocidal but I’m fighting every day to honor my Ancestors. Nearing retirement and time to explore other lands and cultures.
