Safety:Very safe

Byron Bay is a popular destination particularly well-known for its welcoming and friendly community. The crime rate is low compared to most other locations and locals are often willing to help should you need it. Harnessing a relaxed surf culture means you will find many like-minded individuals enjoying the beach and town. As with any travel, it's always important to be aware of your surroundings, but generally, solo female travellers can feel safe and secure when exploring Byron Bay.

Transport:Easy

Byron Bay is quite comfortable to navigate for solo female travelers. The town is known for its walkable layout, making it easy to get around on foot. Most attractions, eateries, and shopping areas are within close proximity. For longer distances, bike rentals are popular and an effective way to explore. Driving can be challenging, especially in peak tourist season due to limited parking. Using public transportation or taxis can be a good option as well.

Things to do:Interesting

Byron Bay offers a multitude of activities suitable for solo female travelers. The tranquil bay is not just a surfer’s paradise, but a haven for those who enjoy beach and water activities. Hiking trails near the lighthouse offer breathtaking views and photographic moments. The city is replete with artisan markets, health & wellness retreats, and yoga studios. You can savour local, organic food at numerous eateries and explore different cultures assimilated into the vibrant social fabric of the town. Mingle with locals as you tour the town or go whale watching. The lack of a rating 5 ties to the town being small and cannot provide grand scale attractions, and may also not cater to all types of luxury/premium demands.

Food:Excellent

From fresh local sea foods to vibrant vegan cuisines, Byron Bay dishes up a gastronomic adventure that caters to all palates. Whether you prefer indulging in a traditional meat pie at a trendy bistro or exploring local, organic farm-to-table offerings, every meal experience in Byron Bay is a delight. The entire region thrives on a vibrant food culture with a strong emphasis on natural, locally sourced ingredients. With numerous food festivals and an active community of passionate foodies and chefs, Byron Bay easily ranks high in terms of its gastronomical offerings.

Budget:Moderate

Byron Bay can be moderately budget-friendly. Accommodation and food can be quite pricey compared to other parts of Australia, but by opting for budget hostels, cooking your own meals and making use of free natural attractions like the beach and walking trails, one can manage the costs effectively. Activities such as surfing lessons and wildlife tours can add to the expenses.

Is Byron Bay worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

Byron Bay holds a special place in my heart; it's one of my favorite cities in the world. Its vibrant surfing culture, yoga scene, and laid-back hippy vibes create an incredible atmosphere. I always feel safe exploring the town, meeting new people, and immersing myself in breathtaking sunsets. Cheeky Monkey is a favorite spot of mine for enjoying drinks and dancing the night away!

Solo travel experience

I really loved Byron Bay! The vibe’s, the nature and the people are amazing in Byron Bay. I traveled up The East Coast in October and Byron Bay was by far my favorite place. If you are there you have to walk all the way up to the lighthouse. If you are going to the Lighthouse during sunset you could have the chance seeing wildlife like koalas or kangaroos.

About me

Hi my name is Mandy I’m 21 and was raised on the eastern coast of Australia in Byron bay. I travelled Australia when I was 6 for 2 years and got home schooled by my family. I have worked on farms, in factory’s and hospitality’s. I am a fun, easy goi no person who is interested in meeting new people and making new experiences. Im a hard worker but in my down time I like to get out in nature, jump in the ocean or go for a walk or hike but also enjoy going out and hanging with friends. I am currently travelling Europe with my best friend for a couple of months and wanting to meet some new people and possibly find some places to stay.
