Is Cévennes Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

I did this trek to attend a festival in St Laurent le Minier in the south of the Cevennes, I camped solo for 4 days, and everyone I met in the mountains or in the villages was extremely warm. One guy even gave me bottles of water (be careful of droughts in the summer because all the rivers are dry; filtering water bottles are of no use). I highly recommend the very cute festival.
