Is Calgary Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Calgary is a very safe city by international standards. Violent crime is rare and it tends not to be random. The downtown area and other tourist places are well lit and busy, even late into the night. Public transport is well regulated, and Canadian people are generally friendly, helpful, and respectful. Still, it is always important to apply common sense, especially during the night and in less crowded places, as you would in any other city.

Walking around as a solo female after dark is fine. There are certain areas it’s not recommended but overall it is safe. Definitely safe solo female travellers and super fun especially in the mountains!

Have always felt very safe here everywhere I’ve gone. I run lots throughout the city and even at night I haven’t been worried about others. There are some very safe neighbourhoods and as a young woman I’ve never had a bad experience here.

About me

Hi girls! I’m Marin - I was raised in the Canadian Rockies & foothills and I now spend my summers working in Banff National Park and my winters traveling the world! When I am between the two, I stay with my family in my hometown of Calgary. I’m a very social person at heart but can sometimes take a minute to get out of my shell. My favourite part of traveling is meeting new friends around the world, so I’m thrilled to be on this app! I am usually able to host in Calgary and am almost always free to meet up and do activities in Calgary or Canmore/Banff! I have more hobbies than I can count, ranging from making stained glass and embroidery art, to partying and playing video games. I also love to hike and be in nature! To be honest I’m perfectly happy to do almost anything & it’s very difficult for me to be bored. I’d love to meet you and make some fun memories together!! I am coming to Europe for the first time at the end of March! I’ll be there for 2-3 months with almost no plan aside from slowly making my way from west to east! If you’re around, send me a message :D

About Me

Just a girl in her early 20s looking to explore the world and learn more about myself while doing it. I love making new friends and experiencing new cultures. When travelling, I enjoy sightseeing, taking photos, and eating food! I tend to be perceived as shy, quiet, and reserved on first meet but I get comfortable easily.
