I would describe Calgary as a safe place to travel. The only thing I have to say is that there are often drug addicts on the train or near the train station. They can make you feel uncomfortable, especially if they try talking to you, but they usually don't do anything. Sometimes I just change the train cars.

Calgary is safe. There is homeless people but they don’t bother you, just continue on. Quite safe to walk around at night. Crime rates are low and unless approached it’s very safe. Lots of safety call buttons around downtown. If you venture outside of main downtown it’s very safe.

Walking around as a solo female after dark is fine. There are certain areas it’s not recommended but overall it is safe. Definitely safe solo female travellers and super fun especially in the mountains!

I would safe it’s a small city..a million people and I walk everywhere. It’s a fairly small and friendly city. There are Ubers and Lyft as well and cheap. The downtown is small so easy to get around.

There are so many safe spaces and neighborhoods in Calgary. Common sense and a good tour guide are all you need. I've been here for 30 years and have also lived in Vancouver and Toronto. Calgary is by far my fave city!
