I would safe it’s a small city..a million people and I walk everywhere. It’s a fairly small and friendly city. There are Ubers and Lyft as well and cheap. The downtown is small so easy to get around.
Posted: February 6, 2025There are so many safe spaces and neighborhoods in Calgary. Common sense and a good tour guide are all you need. I've been here for 30 years and have also lived in Vancouver and Toronto. Calgary is by far my fave city!
Posted: January 29, 2025Calgary is a safe city, easy to go around doesn't matter the time of the day. We do have homeless people in the downtown area, however not close to my home. Humans tend to be quite respectful, polite and mindful of people's boundaries.

Calgary is a beautiful city, like most, you stay away from the seedy areas. There's a big river, lots of pubs and restaurants and big parks. Summer is my preference here as you can enjoy the outdoors like floating down the river, easy access to the mountains for white water rafting, hiking, rock climbing mountain biking etc.
Posted: December 28, 2024Calgary in general is a very safe area for tourists and local! However, there are certain places you might wanna avoid like downtown and north east regions near hospitals and shelters. Transit is fairly safe too!

Like most cities in the world there are “good” and “bad” parts of town, but overall I have never been afraid for my safety or harassed beyond a catcall maybe once or twice a year. Most of my girlfriends feel the same way! I walk alone downtown frequently with no issues. I do take caution when walking in the dark and avoid it if I can, but I have never been attacked nor do I know anyone personally who has. Basic caution as a woman is advised, but you’ll almost certainly be alright. I’m not saying crime never happens, but it’s definitely less common than many places. Homelessness has been on the rise with increasing housing costs, so it is common to see houseless people on the streets or on public transit, but they’re just going about their day and minding their business just like everyone else. Violence is very rare, although I have seen some interesting verbal situations where it’s clear maybe the people aren’t totally sober. In general Calgary is a very safe place and in growing up here my whole life, I’ve never had major issues. People here are very nice too, so if you do have a problem or need help, chances are the closest stranger would have your back.
Posted: December 23, 2024I do feel that Calgary is one of the more safer cities that I have lived in and travelled to. I’m not fairly too concerned about anything bad happening to me as the crime rate is low here. I even go for a walk in the dark every night in my community, that being said I do live in a gated community.
Posted: October 3, 2024Typical large north American city: it is generally safe but its best to practice common sense actions. This includes not being too drunk at night, taking drinks directly from the bartenders if a drink is purchased for you, etc
Posted: August 24, 2024Generally safe as a solo female, especially in comparison to other American and Canadian cities. Low crime and robbery, safe to walk in almost all areas alone. Public transit is declining but still safe
Posted: August 9, 2024Calgary is quite a safe city for solo travelers and women in general. The police are very friendly and there are peace officers across major traffic areas (especially in downtown). It’s really safe to walk around the neighborhood even late at night

Hi girls! I’m Marin - I was raised in the Canadian Rockies & foothills and I now spend my summers working in Banff National Park and my winters traveling the world! When I am between the two, I stay with my family in my hometown of Calgary. I’m a very social person at heart but can sometimes take a minute to get out of my shell. My favourite part of traveling is meeting new friends around the world, so I’m thrilled to be on this app! I am usually able to host in Calgary and am almost always free to meet up and do activities in Calgary or Canmore/Banff! I have more hobbies than I can count, ranging from making stained glass and embroidery art, to partying and playing video games. I also love to hike and be in nature! To be honest I’m perfectly happy to do almost anything & it’s very difficult for me to be bored. I’d love to meet you and make some fun memories together!! I am coming to Europe for the first time at the end of March! I’ll be there for 2-3 months with almost no plan aside from slowly making my way from west to east! If you’re around, send me a message :D
