Hi. I'm Martina. I'm a graphic design student in Venice but currently i'm doing my internship in Lisbon, Portugal. While i'm here, i would really like to travel around the country and in Spain too (especially Madrid), when i will go back in Padua i'm open to host people and to show around my city and Venice. we felt safe, however we maintained care with the devices and circulation schedules. We used public transport services, Uber and on foot. Even with the city busy and crowded with tourists, we had no incidents.

When I visited Portugal I rented a car and drove from Porto to Lisbon. I did B&Bs and boutique hotels to get more of a local flavor. For Porto, I did a wine-tasting bus & boat tour. My next stop was Coimbra for the University and the Roman village. After that, I did Sintra. I ended up in Lisbon. My trip was only 7 days, but it was great.

Portugal is a great solo destination. I was there last September. I went to Lisbon and did day tours to Peña Palace, Sintra, and Fatima. Then took the fast train to Porto. Felt very safe.

I went to Portugal last summer, also my first time travelling solo and it was the best decision ever, I loved travelling alone and Portugal is so so beautiful. I went to Lisbon, Costa da Caparica and all the Algarve and I recommend going down South to Sagres and Lagos and visit Ponte da Piedade (the most beautiful place I have ever seen). Lisbon was really pretty, I'd recommend going up the highest hill to see the sunset and have a picnic there, also Belem with a TukTuk and get a pasteis from the famous bakery there and see Torre del Belem. I liked Alfama and for nightlife Pink Street of course and Bairro Alto. The highlight of the trip was going surfing for 4 days, which I have never done before but loved. My trip was split, the first part (Lisbon, Costa da Caparica and Setubal) was with 4 others and the Algarve (Sagres, Lagos, Albufeira, Faro, Tavira) alone. I felt safe all the time being alone.

I’ve been to Portugal on my first solo trip and I can recommend it. There’s so much to see in Lisbon that I was too busy sightseeing and enjoying myself, and had no time to feel anxious or lonely. Porto was the same. People were really friendly and everyone spoke English. And it’s affordable once you get there. The weather was warm but it didn’t make me sweaty, so it was perfect for walking around. The food and drink were great. I spent one day at a beautiful beach, and the rest of the week I was sightseeing. Public transport was not expensive and easy to navigate, and I also used Uber which was cheap. I felt very safe there.

Personally, Porto blew me away, there's no place like it! It's very crazy looking with lots of hills, some really nice places to eat and drink down by the river, and secret little winding alleyways where you can find hidden gems! There's a really cool bookshop too, and lots of gorgeous blue tiled buildings (churches, the main station) which Portugal is famous for. The port wine is also unbearably good - lots of port wine cellar tours and tastings, and it's damn cheap! I liked Lisbon, but it just felt a bit meh compared to other European capitals - there are not loads to see (compared to, say, somewhere like Budapest, Krakow, or Berlin), and it's more expensive than Porto. Most people will probably choose Lisbon over Porto if they're only visiting one, but I didn't find it that incredible of a city.
