Izola is an absolutely lovely small seaside town that is a summer vacation favorite for Slovenians (so I heard) and i would say it's a hidden gem to replace a visit to Piran with as it's full of a vibrant life of locals, with small open air concerts etc. I stayed at Hostel Alieti which is a big reason for my good experience since I met a lot of lovely slovenians there of all different ages. Restaurant Parangal was also really good. Not a party town, not a town in general so not much to see, but a lovely atmosphere to enjoy. Would recommend cycling, i cycled to Piran back and loved it.
