Salt Lake City and other parts of Utah and actually really safe. Public transportation is very clean and well maintained. There are some parts of Salt Lake City where there is more homeless and crime but nothing major and if you stay away from there you’ll be ok People are super nice and friendly and very religious
Posted: May 28, 2025Salt Lake is overall pretty safe, people are respectful and mostly keep to themselves. I’m from here and have mostly all good interactions with strangers in the event of needing help or direction. I feel safe going places/doing things alone!
Posted: January 26, 2025Salt Lake is safe if you are smart- however I would REALLY watch your drinks carefully at clubs, and I would never ever leave anything valuable in a car at night. Public transportation is very safe, and it's very accessible.
Posted: December 28, 2024Salt Lake City is a pretty safe city. Most crime that goes on is not physical attacks or violence. I have no problem taking public transport or walking alone at day or during the night. The only fairly unsettling area is directly downtown
Posted: December 27, 2024i feel pretty safe within salt lake city itself! sometimes a little paranoid walking in the city at night but that’s apart of being a woman. for the most part you’re safe! it’s not a very crowded so really no need to worry. i feel very safe on public transport, tend to get cat called in salt lake when im wearing slightly revealing clothing, but low crime rates and im not worried about being physically attacked :)

I feel with any city there are going to be places that are safe and places to avoid. Central downtown near city Creek Mall and temple are fairly safe. I would not recommend going too far west or south in the city. South Salt Lake is not a safe area. Almost everywhere else in the valley is very safe. I strongly recommend exploring the nearby hiking trails if that's the type of thing you're into.
Posted: August 22, 2024I really enjoyed Salt Lake City. The city is quite transparent and extremely clean, with beautiful views of the mountains and hiking trails, as well as plenty of people walking around and spending time in their own ways.
