Boston is relatively safe depending on which towns you go to, like I wouldn’t recommend walking alone at night around Roxbury just because you could get robbed or mugged or harassed. Parts like Brookline and seaport are very safe and even Fenway.
Posted: February 15, 2025Boston is pretty safe city, I just don’t recommend to walk alone at night in downtown and South end. It is city with a lot of students and young people who loves new adventures and have some fun. Welcome.
Posted: February 11, 2025Boston is a very safe city in both the day and night, walking alone or with friends. Public transportation is also safe though like any city you should be aware of your surroundings in underground stations.
Posted: January 22, 2025Boston is relatively a very safe city. People are not openly friendly but will always have your back if you need it. It is very walkable and public transport is easy to navigate. Crime is low and petty crimes like theft are not common. As a woman I have never felt unsafe in Boston, although be on your guard at night time in less public areas.

While there are certain pockets of Boston that may feel a bit more unsafe than others, I have lived in Boston for over 5 years and have never had a problem in the city or felt unsafe walking alone, traveling, dining, taking public transport, etc
Posted: December 29, 2024Boston is very safe. I like living here. Back bay is quiet and peaceful. Almost no reported violent crime in the area. MBTA is always clean and well lit. The city has good police presence. The drivers are really bad though so I might be scared of being run over.
Posted: December 26, 2024Pretty safe if you stay in the nicer areas def avoid mass and cass at night!! Stick to seaport both end and financial district! The north end specifically everyone is always willing to help and are out all night!! Feels just like Italy it’s def the safest
Posted: August 3, 2024Boston is very safe, I’ve come back after midnight alone multiple times and have never felt unsafe. I also have never felt unsafe in the public transport though the homeless population can make it feel a little strange (but is similar to really any other big city)
Posted: July 4, 2024Boston is a safe town, of course there are specific places that are not recommendable to visit but most tourist places are safe, I definitely recommend to come here and know this beautiful city! :) and all new England area!
Posted: June 23, 2024Boston is extremely quiet and safe! Moving from Brooklyn, NY, I was impressed at the cleanliness and friendliness of the T especially. I would generally avoid downtown crossing if you are alone and it’s after 1am, but otherwise I’ve never been bothered and am usually out alone and late.

I had a great time in Boston, USA. I spent about a week there before I moved on and on and visited some relatives nearby. Boston was still pretty snowy. The greenaway was nice with public art but not well shovelled. I really liked the free viewing point " Observation Deck at Independence Wharf". The parks and public transport were quite nice too. The galleries had a free entry evening at the time and lovely art. The park by the galleries "Fan Pier Park", the waterfront by MIT Richard J. Resch Boathouse and Revere Beach had great views but the wind was a bit too cold at times in March when I visited. I would recommend. The HI Boston Hostel was convenient and pleasant. I also stayed in a hotel by Revere beach which was really nice and relaxing. "Las Delicias Colombianas" restaurant I think is the one where I got my sizzling steak at which was great.

United States
Visited in the summer, the T (trains) were pretty regular and not as delayed as NYC trains (max 15 min delay one time in my 3 month internship). Harvard yard, Boston Commons, all the trails are lovely. I traveled around at most hours of the day and it was relatively quiet/calm the entire time. If I had extra time I'd love to check out Salem!
