Atlanta is not a safe city after dark. I would not travel alone in this city with violent attacks and increased sexual assaults. Public transportation is commonly used. Increased traffic that gets worse around peak morning and starts as early as 3pm

Atlanta is largely a safe city as long as you keep your wits about you, stay aware of your surroundings, and heed warnings about neighborhoods/areas. Most people and businesses are willing to answer questions and help out as possible!
Posted: March 6, 2025Atlanta is a car centric city that makes it a little easier to be safe. I think the most walkable places such as the beltline is safe and well lit with people but I would not recommend walking just anywhere
Posted: February 10, 2025I’ve always felt safe even as a young woman alone. In my opinion Atlanta looks and feels a lot scarier to outsiders than it actually is. Sure you’ll get catcalled and houseless people will ask for anything they can think of that you might be able to give them, but no ones going to hurt you.

Depending on the area(neighborhood of Atlanta) you're visiting & the time your activities are completed. The overall daylight hours to visit the city can be very enjoyable. Using the #SHEride App is a great to tool for an all-female Ride Share experience to get around Atlanta.
Posted: February 8, 2025Being a larger city, Atlanta has its fair share of crime and violence. By no means should someone avoid Atlanta, but certain safety measures are always good to have. Personally, as a woman who has grown up here, I recommend always carrying mace. I have never had to use it, but it provides a sense of safety when venturing into more shady areas of town. The men here can sometimes be annoying when it comes to catcalling, but they tend to keep their hands to themselves.
Posted: January 4, 2025My neighborhood of Midtown Arts Center is very clean and somewhat upscale. The further down you get into the city the more questionable it gets though. I wouldn’t dare walk alone at Piedmont Park at night or be in Downtown ATL too long at night by myself though!

As long as you know the area you are in it’s pretty safe. I would definitely have contacts here or travel with other people but if not, if you are careful it should be okay. No more dangerous than other cities in the US and worth the trip if you are interested.

I had just spent three months in Atlanta but Thank God I had no problems about safety in Atlanta so far. And I don’t know about any bad experience of someone else here, even most of my friends are girls

As in all cities, it depends on the circumstances. The central and touristy parts of Atlanta are lovely. Be careful around outskirts and deserted areas, they are typically more unsafe after dark. I have never experienced more than occasional catcalls or men staring at me as I pass them. Stay aware and you will be fine.

Day trip to ATL - Atlanta, GA Visited the Delta Flight museum. Rented car for transport. Took the Tuesday 1 PM tour that was hosted by retired Delta employees who talked about the objects and planes in the museum and their experiences. It was entertaining and educational especially to those who love aviation and history. Good for solo travel due to secure environment of airport and museum. You have to show ID to access the museum since it is on their corporate campus adjacent to the airport. Also enjoyed the tour which was a group of about 15 other friendly people. Only sketchy part was leaving the airport. There were people begging near the Marta station but they left you alone if ignored.
Posted: February 5, 2024I've been to Atlanta many times. I've used the trains and walked around different kinds of neighborhoods. My only problem with Atlanta is that it's crowded. Besides that, I'm not a fan of southern food after a day or two because it's very unhealthy. But besides that, Atlanta is a cool city to visit. Lots of fun neighborhoods - downtown, midtown, northern part, and Buckhead. All are amazing.

About to be done with law school and start my real life, trying to use my Delta companion pass as much as possible before I lose all my free time 😮💨
