Atlanta is like any major US city. It has its dangers but if you stick to the populated places and have your wits about you, you’ll be fine. The public transit is very safe during the day and I would just exercise increased caution after 9/10pm
Posted: May 1, 2025Atlanta is mostly spread apart. It's not so much a walkable city, so lots of driving is involved, making it feel safer. The public transport is mostly reliable and safe. Sometimes there will be an occasional person trying to talk to you but nothing to really worry about. I would not recommend walking at night or taking transit at night though. I would recommend centennial park, the belt line, and ponce city market!
Posted: April 17, 2025Atlanta is not a safe city after dark. I would not travel alone in this city with violent attacks and increased sexual assaults. Public transportation is commonly used. Increased traffic that gets worse around peak morning and starts as early as 3pm

Atlanta is largely a safe city as long as you keep your wits about you, stay aware of your surroundings, and heed warnings about neighborhoods/areas. Most people and businesses are willing to answer questions and help out as possible!
Posted: March 6, 2025Atlanta is a car centric city that makes it a little easier to be safe. I think the most walkable places such as the beltline is safe and well lit with people but I would not recommend walking just anywhere
Posted: February 10, 2025I’ve always felt safe even as a young woman alone. In my opinion Atlanta looks and feels a lot scarier to outsiders than it actually is. Sure you’ll get catcalled and houseless people will ask for anything they can think of that you might be able to give them, but no ones going to hurt you.

Day trip to ATL - Atlanta, GA Visited the Delta Flight museum. Rented car for transport. Took the Tuesday 1 PM tour that was hosted by retired Delta employees who talked about the objects and planes in the museum and their experiences. It was entertaining and educational especially to those who love aviation and history. Good for solo travel due to secure environment of airport and museum. You have to show ID to access the museum since it is on their corporate campus adjacent to the airport. Also enjoyed the tour which was a group of about 15 other friendly people. Only sketchy part was leaving the airport. There were people begging near the Marta station but they left you alone if ignored.
Posted: February 5, 2024I've been to Atlanta many times. I've used the trains and walked around different kinds of neighborhoods. My only problem with Atlanta is that it's crowded. Besides that, I'm not a fan of southern food after a day or two because it's very unhealthy. But besides that, Atlanta is a cool city to visit. Lots of fun neighborhoods - downtown, midtown, northern part, and Buckhead. All are amazing.
